Paintless Dent Removal on bootlid? (Pics)

Found this beaut yesterday on my bootlid, no damage at all to the bumper.

Dent is bang in the center of the back above badge.
No damage at all to the bumper it's self. The dent is about 4' in diameter surrounding the badge. Due to the dent the boot lid doesn't sit flush on the right hand side as in pics

Is this a PDR job or a body shop?

I've contacted a few places but have yet to hear back. Is the boot lid a doable job as it's fairly easy to get at?

    Thanks for any advice.

That looks like a very difficult repair for PDR given the lip of the boot is damaged too, maybe possible but it's going to be a test.

    Cheers,

I think I can live with it not being shop room perfect again, just the main dent pushed back in so the boot lid sits flush again if it means that the lip still looks slightly damaged?
Does anyone know if this is viable with PDR?

Seeing as I can acess the back myself is this worth trying a DIY job for the "main" dent or likely to make matter worse?

The metal has stretched, so unless you know how to shrink it, don't attempt it. It won't pop. No dent really does. PDR probably won't fix that unfortunately, so you'll need to chat to your local bodyshop.

    Cheers Owen,

I'll keep the plunger for the toiletbowel and go talk to the pros so!

If you live in the Dublin area give car craft a shout. They're in the fairview/ ballybough area. Very reasonable & they do a great job. They'd sort that out for you in a day.

Would it not be better to go hunting scrap yards for a black boot lid?

Too much hassle, the bootlid on the pre-facelift 156 is a different fit, so post '04s are rare enough in scappies
I'd have to pay to have someone fit it and possibly spray it too. So it'd end up being more effort for much the same price I'd say.

No harm ringing around. I put a new boot lid on my S60 a few weeks back and I got one from a breakers the same colour. I really thought finding parts same colour as my car (gold) was gonna be tough but there you go.

I'm gonna eat my words here, as I've had various quotes today that are extremely reasonable to mind boggling.
    (€180 to €1K)

So the replacement boot via a scrappy may be a cheap alternative.
Now the fun of finding a lid in black for a car only manufactured for 2 years.

One final Q, what's a ball park for a boot lid respray?
