A friend of mine is interested in purchasing a Series 1 or 11 Land Rover. We have been unable to find any original Irish registered models for sale. Does anyone know where can I find information on how many of them were sold here. Ive seen pictures and old RTE clips of Series 1 but these were all scrapped. I would guess that it was a very expensive vehicle to purchase new by Irish standards back then........

I think you'll struggle to find out how many were sold here. Some Series IIAs were assembled here as well. Best bet would be to keep an eye on the Series 1 and Series 2 forums if you are after something original.

We recently recovered a basket case Series 2 but one in good running order will set you back €3-4000, more for a very good one. Later Series 3s can be cheaper but there's a lot of rusty ones around.

Anything decent will probably also show up on www.4xforum.net which is an all Ireland 4x4 forum.

I had an original Irish 88" series 1, I sold it bact to the guy I bought it off saddest thing I ever done but at the time I just couldn't afford the parts to do her justice I also know a guy who has an original Irish 108" series 1 that's in mid restoration at the moment.
