tax credits

    hi guys
    my sister lost her husband last year and now gets a widows pension, however it has now affected her tax credits and she is no better of than when he was a live ( i know that sounds bad) but she thought the pension would cover the child minder so I m wondering does anyone have any advice

    Sorry to hear that. It's always difficult to sort things like this out after a bereavement.

    First question. Did your sister inform Revenue of her husbands death? If not and they were not joint assessed, Revenue may not have them linked and she may only be getting a single persons tax credit.

    My advice is for your sister to email Revenue with her and her deceased husbands details to ensure she is getting the below:

    Widowed parent tax credit
    One parent family tax credit
