Airtricity Is Incorrectly Billing Me...

Please help - I don't know how to handle this.

I moved into my apartment in September and received a bill from Airtricity (addressed to current occupant) for the two months prior to my living there. I called them, explained the situation and they told me I wouldn't have to pay those bills, but if I had a meter reading, they could switch it over to my name. Great! So I did that.

But then I got the next bill, and it had my actual charges, but it still had all of the previous charges too! I called them several times and e-mailed scanned copies of my lease trying to get them to fix the bill. Eventually they did send me an e-bill for the correct amount. I paid it, and then I called ESB to switch because I was sick of being screwed around by them.

Then I got another bill from Airtricity mailed to my place, addressed to 'current occupant' saying I owed them the balance for the months prior to my living there. I e-mailed them again, and explained the situation.

They never respond to any of my e-mails.
When I call them, it takes about an hour of my time and they always assure me everything is settled - but then I still get paper bills mailed to my house.

Now I have an ebill, in my name, for the original unpaid balance. I wasn't living in the apartment, I wasn't even in the country.

I've gone through the process of calling them and explaining everything to them many times now, and each time I waste an hour or so of my time only to get another bill in a few weeks.

What am I supposed to do?

Airtricity billing is a total nightmare and has been the subject of numerous boards threads.
It's the billing horror stories I've heard that have completely put me off going with Airtricity.

CER is probably the best option. But first exhaust their internat complaint's process. Make a formal complaint making it clear that the last occupant does not live there anymore. If this complaint is uneffective you can contact the CER.

Get it sorted now before external debt collectors become involved and they start writing to your address.

It soundsd like the last tenant closed their account when they left and then in the interim there was nobody registered with Airtricity so they addrssed the bills to 'Current Occupant'. If anybody is responsible for these it is your landlord.
