Thailand / Vietnam in January / February?

I was planning on a trip to Thailand in Jan / Feb but see that there has been a lot of flooding, does anyone know how bad it is? Was planning on Bangkok, Chiang Mai, then the beach (any recommendations?).

Also, any recent info on Vietnam? Seems to be more economic problems there, inflation etc. Although I’m not as worried about that as the floods in Thailand.

    Cheers.

Floods in Thailand are receding day by day and Bangkok is dry and will remain so. In fact the main tourist areas of Bangkok remained dry throughout the worst of the floods. Chiang Mai didn't experience any flooding. We are travelling to both cities next month and then onto Phuket for some beach time. Good luck with your plans.
