A bit of a stab in the dark but I thought I'd give this a shot just in case...

I'm with in-laws in the West, week after Christmas and it would be great to get a race in (any distance short of marathon).
Nothing mentioned here or on athenry ac or mayo ac or runireland sites..... (except Athenry's own Stephens Day race which I wouldnt be able to swing)
    so I'm not hopeful.

    Anyway thanks , lex

Yep in Galway you have the following...

5km in Renmore, east side of Galway city
    New years day 1.12 pm
2 laps, great circuit , nice drag on one section , this is a cracker of a race , do it if you can

Very good field last year, it really shakes off the hangover i was in pieces at the start . I think the more drunk you are at the start the faster you will run, you feel no pain..!

There was a race in Barna last year in or around st stephens day , Barna GAA, and one other on stephens day in kilbeacanty

All of the above went ahead last year despite the big freeze

goal mile on dangan track , nui g on xmas day also.

weather dependent this one. this track is slippy enough when wet let alone icey

No cash or category prizes in Athenry. That aside its a good race. The op wanted to know about races other than Athenry.

Brutes thanks a million for the info, really appreciate it.

Mick i'd love to do Athenry , its a great race, but Claremorris to Athenry on Stephen's Day would be a bridge too far for the boss (and the little bosses) I fear ...:)
