I want to set a passcode on an Iphone 4 but when i go to Settings - General - there's no 'Passcode Lock' Option?

Has anyone else had this problem?

    Cheers

Very strange. When/where did you buy the phone? Has this option always been missing?

Bought from the Carphone Warehouse a few months back and its always been missing..

Went down to them yesterday and they told me to update the software (ios 5) and it'll appear.

    Did that, and still nothing.

    Is there an auto-lock option?

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Well since you could update the software it means it's a real phone anyway :D
You could try a restore of the phone but this would basically just overwrite it with a fresh copy of ios501? However I don't think will solve the issue.
Google doesn't really throw up anything useful either.

I googled this and it seems you might have a retail build of iOS designed for demo purposes. Restoring it will probably fix it, but I'd be a bit concerned about the possibility that CPW sold you a demo model.

Are you able to drop apps on top of each other to create "folders"?

    Thanks again for the help..

re antodeco.. Yeah u can create folders..

It could be a demo IOS? Wtf? jokers down there..

Did a mad search through apple forums etc and it doesn't seem to be a common problem.

    Never seen that before.
I'd go through the obvious 1st
Update to 5.0.1, restore of already on 5.0.1
    Reset all settings(settings-general-reset)
Hold in home and lock for 10seconds
