Partner Acceleration Problem

    2002 Peauget Partner 2.0 HDi.

Guys I was driving home from work when I started loosing power, that bad that even on a slight incline I had to keep dropping gears.

I have noticed the pedal has dropped with only about 20mm of play before it's to the floor, when lifted up with my foot it just flops back down.

On a flat it won't go over 2000 revs with the pedal flat down.

Also noticed when I ever so slightly push on the clutch it will accelerate normal.

I lifted the hood & the cable seem tight & when I pulled on it the van revved up normally well past 2000 revs.

Any ideas what the problem could be.

    Thanks.

Check where the accelerator pedal holds the cable barrel above your foot . It may have slipped out of the holder and needs to be put back in.
You may need an assistant to push the cable back while you slip it in.
