Citydeal/Groupon - poor service

Anyone else have any 'not so happy dealings' with this lot?!
I've only used the servie twice.
First time was a very cheap voucher which I was able to print out, so no issues there.
Second time, I purchased Memory Foam pillows.
These have been paid for over 6 weeks ago and so far all I've received is an email from the company saying that they're behind schedule due to the high demand.
I've been on to Groupon's customer service over in London and they've been pretty awful if i'm quite honest...
Giving me numerous excuses and telling me to wait "another 5 working days"

At this rate, I'm very VERY close to telling them to shove it and demanding my money back but it seems almost incredible that every second day I get the automated emails from citydeal with even more offers for memory foam products from the very same company that are unable to dispatch my product, but yet have taken my voucher fee and delivery costs!!!
    :(:(:(

    Hi kormak,

Check on consumer issues on boards......whole section dedicated to this particular offer and it's not good!

I'd say ask for a refund from groupon, if they refuse get onto you credit card company for a chargebeck ASAP.

Similar experince with Groupon & Cloud Foam Memory

Ordered groupon deal (they charged my card twice) for memory foam mattress & attempted to order through the cloud website on numerous occasions but kept getting error messages on site. Tried contacting them on 3 numbers and various email contacts but no responses after 3 weeks.
Then try contacting Groupon - what a disaster... again after numerous unanswered emails & various abandoned attempts at calling them I eventually got through after 30 minutes on hold. The agent refused point blank to give me her name "for security reasons", couldn't or didn't have a reference to give me and huridly rushed me off the phone without confirming I was going to be refunded or what action was being taken.
DISASTER - don't know what criteria their partners have to meet but clearly many of them are not fit to deal with the volumes of orders being received from the offers. And clearly groupon have training and manpower issues due to the service (or lack of) and lengthly wait before even speaking to an agent.

I booked and paid by VISA credit Card via paypal to Groupon for 12 Long Stem Roses from Flowers By Amelie on Saturday 11.

I have got a voucher this morning on my email and came for collection to the address that was given:
Hollybrook Business Centre, Hollybrook Park, Clontarf, Dublin 3, but could not find the office.
I asked many people in Hollybrook Park area, nobody knew , I came into the local GARDA office then and was
told that this is scam and I need to cancel payment asap.
The voucher can be redeemed 13 and 14 Feb from 10am to 4 pm, but there is also written
that voucher is valid from 13.02.2012 to 13.02.2012
What is wrong with the CityDeal/Groupon ? Shall I cancel my Valentine's Day because of them ?

    Crap Crap Crap!!!!!!!

I bought 12 roses on Saturday and paid their courier fee of €6.95 separately and this was paid via paypal to condomville which is very dodge and I emailed them immediately yo ask why this was so twice and have got no response.

Plus I can't find their premises either, or a phone number for that matter and it's really strange that the website is only set up for one offer isn't it??

This was a bad idea...had asked for the roses to be delivered to my girlfriend at work this morning and that aint gonna happen...sickened!

Likewise, I was unable to find Flowers by Amelie at their advertised address in Hollybrook. I received no reply to the query I left on their website and they didn't publish a contact phone number.

I contacted Groupon yesterday to request additional contact details but have yet to receive a reply.

I wonder if anyone who ordered with delivery received their flowers?

    Hey Guys,

I was awarded a refund for the flowers via several emails to a girl in Groupon, so just contact them and ask for a refund and outline what happened...better than nothing!

Thanks gortinseguaire, I will do that and I do expect to receive a full refund. Still, I am curious whether this was actually a scam or a genuine company? And if a scam, how they managed to deceive Groupon?

    Hi All,

Stephen here from FBA. A customer who did not receive their order alerted me to this page, so I will post an explanation here for those confused customers who did not receive their orders.

The address advertised on Groupon should not have been advertised on Groupon, we did not request it and it was in error for Groupon to to do. We are an online only florists, we make up the bouquets in our own workspace and ship them nationwide by courier, or in the case of Dublin deliveries we sometimes deliver them directly ourselves. There is no shop/studio or otherwise which open to the public for collection, this was never agreed with Groupon and if anybody was led to believe they could arrive up and collect flowers, this was in error. The only way you could receive your order in time for the 14th was to redeem your code on our website by Sunday morning at the latest. Again, Groupon incorrectly ran the deal on sunday also, which was not agreed by us and which was a pointless exercise which they should not have done.

As we are an online company, we do not advertise a phone number as we prefer to deal directly through email. This is the case with many online companies.

In response to nickyone, as I have said to you this morning separately via email, as we are a private business, without a shopfront or florist signage of any kind, I don't find it at all strange that any residents (in this quite built up area) you have asked did not know where our workspace was, why would they know? The building is not marked, and you could walk past it every day without knowing it was full of flowers. The same for the local guards, why would they know where we make up bouquets in the privacy of our own workspace? And for a guard to alert you without any knowledge of our business, having never even heard of the business, that it is a scam is simply short sighted. If he has never heard of it, how can he say that its a scam?

Anybody who did not receive their roses please contact us through the form on the site. We are a VERY small company and have been busy making bouquets and delivering flowers the last few days so are running with a backlog of emails which we will get to today. If you did not receive your flowers, it is either because the courier was not able to deliver for some reason, or because you did not redeem your voucher on our website in time. Either way, I can investigate your case and contact you via email.

Anybody who did not receive their flowers, please accept my sincere apologies and know that this was not a scam of any kind. We are a legitimate business and if you haven't received your order, you will be refunded the full amount for both roses and delivery charge. You need to contact Groupon directly for the €39.99 and the delivery charge will be refunded from our partner company once you have contacted us to let us know.

I hope this clears up any confusion.

    Kind regards

    Stephen - FlowersByAmelie

Thanks for the explanation Stephen. It seems the error, if one was made, was by Groupon in its description of the deal.

I can certainly appreciate that Valentines is a particularly busy period for you so can understand a delay in responding to emails. I have applied to Groupon for a refund.

Not good enough Citydeal. Looks like any randomer can just set up any old deal, without any due diligence being done before the offer is sent out.

Surely Citydeal realise that valentine's day flowers, with such a critical delivery window, would merit a basic checking of the supplier - before the loyalty of their entire customer base is put at risk?

I now have to deal with one very pissed off girlfriend. Grrr...

    Hi Dubnozzle,

As I have said to you via email today, your order was indeed dispatched and a courier did attempt delivery to the address you supplied, however there was nobody available to take delivery or to sign so the order was returned to depot.

@Opentux - Thank you for your reply, I will make sure Groupon process your refund when I receive the request and I will have your refund processed for your delivery charge today.

I would also like to state for the record that I have been into Clontarf Garda Station this morning to reassure them and have been informed by the Guard in attandance that no such complaints were being taken seriously. I have informed him of our exact studio whereabouts, contact details etc to which they are fully satisfied.

    Kind regards

    Stephen
