Rules of the Road Query for anyone familiar with Harbourmaster Place/ IFSC

If anyone has tried driving from the South side to the IFSC I can't recommend it. It took 2 hours in traffic to go a distance I would normally walk in 15 minutes.

And after all that I was to collect an item bought from adverts.ie from the IFSC area. You can easily find it by putting : Spencer Dock, I.F.S.C., Dublin, Ireland into Google maps.

I can see from here that driving or stopping a vehicle other than a light rail vehicle on a tram lane can get you fined. Possibly also get you penalty points ?

The road system there seems to have been designed by a small child with crayons on the back of a McDonalds napkin.
On the map Harbourmaster Place can be easily seen. Driving North up Amiens Street to get onto Harbourmaster Place and access the building entails driving along and crossing the LUAS tracks. Is this legal or is it just another sign of a lack of proper planning in Ireland ? Is there a legal exemption for driving along the LUAS tracks where access is required ?

I'm not overly familiar with that junction, but I'd imagine if access is required over the tracks, then that section of track is not a tram lane. Unless the line is marked as a tram lane, or has the 'no entry except trams' signs on it, you're free to drive on it.

There's actually a few stretches where the tram line is the road and you can only drive on the tracks, Upper Abbey Street and James's Street are two that spring to mind. That's probably the reason why trams have indicators and brake lights.

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

Thanks. It might not be until after Christmas but I will check for one of those signs next time I pass by.
