Can I uninstall and reinstall sc on a different computer or do I have to buy the game again?

You can install it on as many computers you want. All you do is log on via battle.net the usual way. You can only log into one SC2 client per account, though (which sucks when you have 2 clients on one account :/). And, obviously, you just need the CD and key (or Digitial Download!!) to install it.

EDIT: This is exact reason why I prefer the DD btw - so I don't have to drag the CD Key around with me. Furthermore, I don't have to worry about it being lost.

What do you mean 'one client per account'. Basically I bought sc2 as a gift and I want to try it out on a computer (also a gift) to make sure it'll run okay. If I set up an account, run the game and play it, will the eventual recipient be able to play it from their own account?

The game will be bound to the account you set up the game with. So the eventual recipient will need to use that same account.

Once you have the game registered to an account you can can download it on as many machines as you want. You need to log in with your account to play

This is bizarre. Is there any way I can check if the game will run on the laptop before I give it over as a gift?

I have an EU client and an American client on the same account. They're 2 different downloads.

You would need to check the specs against the min requirements.

I play it (on low settings) on a 4-5 year old dual core pentium 1.8ghz, 4GB RAM, windows vista with an onboard 512mb Intel graphics card. The graphics card is the limiting factor.

I would guess that any 'decent' machine you buy will beat that.
