    Good evening All,

I'm looking for a christmas themed train set which runs on mains power, I've seen the polar express online but only from the USA. As this is a present for myself from myself and been a male I want the biggest and best set available the cost is not a major issue but value for money would be nice.

Any idea where I could get such a beast, I'm based in Waterford area, but will buy online if I can find right site.

even if there was the time to import from america, woud also have to waste more of that budget on a step down transformer because of the voltage and plug differences, though america does seem to have the most christmas themed sets looking at google now.

depending on the type of track, its always possible to buy track extensions and keep building upon the existing set,so assuming have looked into the availability of this option first it wont matter much on the size of the default set.

if are a newbie to modern trainsets woud also recommend getting a large slab of MDF and nailing the the track to the board so it can be put out the way when not in use-some people make a hoist system to keep it in the air and then store it up at the ceiling when not in use.

and who says the big sets are for males?:D cant be doing with a small one, mine is huge and it hasnt even been extended.
its a tomy thomas the tank engine & friends deluxe set, uses plastic blue trackmaster tracks which are less fiddly than the electric powered type but they cant be nailed to a back board.
    photo of mine:

on google search 'christmas themed train set inurl:.ie' -this inurl command is called a 'dork',it will make things a lot more specific to the countries wanted.
-ebay is also a good place to look, and dont avoid second hand if its in quality condition-its great for a bargin and may include extended track ,mine took a while to appear on ebay.
