Birth Cert Application form

I would be interested to know has anyone recently got a birth certificate from the Civil Registartion Office.
I am doing some family research and got a birth cert from the office.

My question is in relation to the form that you fill out. It is the part where it asks for the applicants details. It asks for the applicants name and address.

I would be interested to know what happens this information, is the applicants details held on file for ever or is the information destoryed after a period of time.

By greatful for any info on this.

I have no idea, but it's an interesting question.

It seems to be a largely token gesture,as no ID is asked for,and there is nothing to stop you from describing your self as Joe Bloggs from 123 Nowhere Street.

The best way to resolve this question would be to contact (email) the civil registration office in question and ask them what they do with this data.
