Thought id share this stalk with you guys as I haven’t posted in a while

Left home at 6.30 – I was late as First light was already in by 7.10 as I Parked up the car. A whistle rang out as I opened the door - Not a good start. It was bright at this stage and not a deer in sight… id realised the stalk was not going well as I approached the last field and several pheasants lifted. The last field bulged in the middle so I couldn’t see to the far side of a 15 Acre field. I decided not to walk the length of the field and instead to cut across the field up towards a field of beet. As I did so I noticed something unusual that didn’t sit right close to the edge of the wood away out in the distance. Glassed it and low and behold it was an 8pt stag grazing an around 120-150 Yards! I made up my mind I wouldn’t shoot it – Just happy enough to just watch on in awe. For the fun of it id decide how close I could get to it. It was very calm. I dropped to the ground and started crawling on my stomach - I was making loads of noise on the stubble and the stag raised his head – I was spotted ! I dropped to the ground and lay perfectly still. I was now out of view using the lie of the land to my advantage. I lifted my head up just enough for a second look and noticed the 8pointer had moved closer to the edge of the wood. It got interesting when a 6 pointer appeared out of nowhere further up the edge of the wood. Now it was make up my mind time quick… I decided to leave the big stag and take the smaller 6pointer. So that was it I dropped my harris and extended it out to the max to gain elevation. I buried myself into the ground and flipped back the caps on the scope. Both stags were getting uneasy. The 6pointer stag stood broadside and I seized the opportunity and squeezed the trigger… The bang rang out from the 270 but no thud??? My heart sunk as I caught a glimpse of the stag as it bounced of in the distance…. I lifted my swaros and glassed the headland the stag had turned 180 and was limping my way. I quickly Reloaded and got ready for a quick follow up shot. There was no need the stag dropped to the ground and somersaulteda few times gave a few last kicks - the hunt was over. Further examination showed the 130 Grain bullet was perfectly placed just above the shoulder and passed straight through. I dragged this guy 300 odd Yards single handed to the car. Ill think twice b4 doing that again!!!
