Good grief, online nostalgia. Seems it was out earlier than 2000 though. The single campaign was flawed, but multiplayer online, at the time, was ace.

The game was quite hard to track down at one point. The original issue of the Gold Edition (not the budget label re-issue), is still touted for about $15-$20, on eBay.

They actually released that classic game on steam without multiplayer for some reason...anyone know if they ever actually got around to adding it?

Meirleach, have a gander at the Steam support forum for the game, there's a sticky or two concerning multiplayer near the top. The word 'BETA' is used..

Also, it seems the game can default to debug mode, which disables the Multiplayer Menu choice.

I'm fairly certain that you're talking about the daily deals. The daily deals start at 6pm and finish at 5.59p.m the following day.

I rarely buy games at all but it'd be good to have one or two to mess around with. I used to love Command & Conquer on the PC, and strategy games in general. May aswell make use of this sale!

I'd recommend Portal 2, Civilization 4, Team Fortress 2 (Free online shooter, and one of the best there is!), world of goo (bridge building strategy), Left 4 Dead 1&2 (online shooter versus zombie horde), Counter Strike (classis online shooter), super meat boy (amazing platform game),

Thanks lads, I got 'Torchlight' to action-RPG-it-up, just started it last night, 3hrs in, it's shaping up to be a real interesting game so far

I also bought 'Portal 2', all I gotta say 'bout that one is WOW! love the idea and the game mechanics, probably wont be seeing me now on boards.ie for a while

My next one to get is 'Counter Strike' but as far as I remember is a really old game, I want to play on line multi player, do loads of people still play 'counter strike' online multiplayer these days?

also has anyone played 'nuclear dawn', only 70/100, but it looks very cool. any thoughts?

The original Op Flashpoint is Operation Flashpoint. The ARMA series was after OF and all its expansions were released and Codemasters and Bohemia parted ways. All the ARMA games are buggy as hell though, thats what annoys (I nearly typed bugs!) me about them.

Get Counter Strike: Source. If you have an old, valid and legal Gunman Chronicles or Half-Life key you'll get the original set of games on Steam. Day of Defeat: Source is half price too.

Do you have an Nvidia or ATI graphics card? The Nvidia or ATI offers for a free copy of Half Life 2: Deathmatch may still be active, but I'm not too sure.
