Is the PSN unreliable?

    Hi all,
having bought a PS3 for my GF to play singstar, I am pretty disappointed that simply trying to register with the PSN has been so troublesome.

We tried it on the consoloe and on a PC and on the console the shagging thing lets you go through the whole process before failing at the last hurdle. On a PC it might get past the first page before giving up with a "down for maintenance" error. It was "down for maintenance" last night too.

Is this par for the course or am I doing something wrong? The Sony website in general feels extremely slow for such a large company.

PSN is generally good for me. Exception being the massive downtime a few months ago.

It always seems to be undergoing maintenance, whenever I want to buy something off the PlayStation Store. Agh!
