    Hi,

hopefully someone can help me with this, Lately ebay wont open on safari.
It had been working just fine up untill a few days ago, It seems to be working ok on my friends/families computers even on my phone theres no problems, I have tried clearing my cache and deleting the cookies, Ive reset safari but none of this has worked. I read somewhere that changing the http:// to https:// might work or adding .index to the end of the address would help but that hasnt worked either? I have also downloaded firefox and google chrome as I thought this may have work but sadly not.
has anyone else had this same problem? every other site seems to work just fine, as far as Im aware anyway?!

    Thanks!

    Does it make a difference when you visit eBay.ie / eBay.co.uk / eBay.com ?

If you go to the command prompt (or type CMD in the start menu) type ping www.ebay.ie - you should get 4 request time outs but above that you should see an IP address like 66.211.181.182 do you get anything like that? Try using that IP address in the address bar too and just see if it brings you to the eBay website? Sounds very strange...

Sorry don't have much experience with Macs so had to google it! Your computer needs to be able to ping the website in order to access it... You should get 4 request timed outs but the IP should be listed - if you can't even see that IP address then there is something very weird up if the other computers can access it...

Is it giving any kind of error or just continuously loading?

It might be a DNS issue on your machine.

Can you type the following into a terminal and paste the response you get:
    dig www.ebay.ie

    traceroute 66.135.200.162

If it is a DNS issues then first try flushing your DNS cache:
    dscacheutil -flushcache

If that doesn't work try changing your DNS to use Google DNS servers.
Follow this guide and add in the following DNS IP addresses:

    8.8.8.8
    8.8.4.4
