Since it's winter, a question about summer!

I've signed up to ride Acte 1 of next year's etape, so apart from trying to get my head around the training that I'll need to put in, one thing that causes me a great deal of anxiety is the potential that it will be a hot, sunny day.

I know most people in November would love some weather like that!

I have quite fair skin and burn really quickly. This year I've tried Neutrogena Ultimate Sport Sunblock Spray with an SPF 100+. To be honest I'm not sure how it performed, as everytime I wore it this year, it seemed more effective at waterproofing my legs than blocking the (absent) sun.

So my question (eventually) is, for those boardsies out there, who suffer when the sun comes out and have participated in events like the etape, what would you recommend?

    Thanks!

+1 for P20. Make sure to let it dry in for about 10 mins before getting dressed to make sure it lasts the day.

P20 as well. Still got a bit of a peter pan with it as well :D
I did the Etape 1 last year and it got extremely hot on Alpe D'Huez, 34-5 on the garmin the duration. Found the hardest thing was the sweat going into my eyes .
Doing Etape 1 next year again and planning to do the Marmotte the day before, hope it's doable as I ahve loads of time to train hard for it!

Factor 20 doesn't seem like much for someone with fair skin? I did the Nove Colli last year, it was about 30C and I wore factor 30. Got a bit burnt on my arms and I'm mixed race so the skin's not too pale.

The Italians seemed to favour the thin lycra bandanas to keep the sweat out of their eyes. Never tried them myself.
