Do any media players allow direct copying direct from a VHS video?

Parents have a heap of videos I want to future proof and allow them to watch when they want.

Would prefer not to have to buy hardware for my PC and transfer them by USB afterwards. Just looking for a simple media player that'll take a composite video input.

yes, no idea what you're asking..

Do you have a capture card already or not?

No, don't have capture card so would prefer a media player that'll connect direct to the Video recorder.

    Tall order, I know!

    I'd use a capture card as a plan B.
Any suggestions for a capture card...preferably a USB for the laptop as the desktop is fairly old.
