    Thats a given these days.

Send your cv out to all companies in the golden pages. Only way to do it unless you know some one.

Have you asked your college for contacts?

Might I suggest looking abroad? It would look great on the aul' CV. Apart from that the City/County Councils used to take a few people on each summer but I've no idea if they still do. Private companies are most definitely cutting back - in my present place, we took on one guy for the summer, but he was a recent graduate.

But yes, ask all your lecturers, they must have contacts in the industry who should be able to point them in the right direction. I heard talk before about some wind energy companies down in SW Cork/Kerry who weren't doing terribly these days, so do look all around the country!

if you're willing to go abroad, check out jaguar. They offer a 3 month placement and are currently looking to increase their electronic/electrical engineers. The offer bursaries to the leccies and if you do well enough you will more than likely be offered a position for when you graduate. So the guy at a talk I was at on monday was saying anyway

Analog Devices, Texas Instruments, S3, Intel, ESB, ESBI, IBM, Siemens, Bord Gais, Bord na Mona, Eirgrid and probably a bunch of other small companies all take undergrad interns for the summer. They pay you too.

I'd second this, they seem pretty desperate for people.

Only if people don't ask for it. A vast majority of companies out there have enough money to pay you, and they should.

Pretty much everyone in my class who made a decent effort at getting an internship got one, they were all paid as well.
