Imessages Problem

My friend recently sold his iPhone 4. When anybody with an iPhone texts him the messages are sending as imessages and delivering but he gets no text on his Android. I changed his Apple id and password and also deleted the iPhone as a device on his itunes but the problem still remains. Is there any way to fix this as he has no way of getting the old phone back.

    Thanks

I could be wrong, but it sounds like his details are still stored on the iPhone he sold. Does he know the person he sold it to?

Actually, if he changes his password for his Apple account he used on the iPhone, it might remove it.

Did he not wipe the phone before he sold it? His Apple ID must still be logged in on the phone. But the other person will surely create their own at some point or restore it in iTunes, which is what your friend should have done before he sold it.

Seemingly he should have switched iMessage off, wiped the phone & not put his SIM back in, which he possibly did (put his SIM back in) to show the buyer that the phone was working.

Has he any way of contacting the person who he sold the phone to & asking them if they are receiving the messages?

It seems that this may be happening to others according to THIS & THIS

I wonder is this the reason why people are being charged for re-activation each time they replace their SIM or reset their phone. This might account for that & Apple are just not publicising it as a resolution to a security bug?
