I don't know a lot about them, but I'm inclined to think this is a pretty excellent deal!

It seems cheap but it's worth spending more for a better tablet tbh. A resistive screen just isn't worth the hassle.

    Here's a review for anyone who's interested.
    http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/20/pandigital-novel-review/

Edit: The €250 original price would also appear to be a blatant lie as the "tablet" (e-reader) was priced at $180 upon release over a year ago?

For someone like myself who doesnt know about tablets, what is the disadvantage of resistive screens?

And any recommendation for a better tablet?

this seems like a better deal again...

    Resistive doesn't support multi touch,

    Wouldn't be as responsive

    on a side note:

    Resolution is crap

2.1 is not only not designed for tablet use, its vastly inferior to newer versions of andorid

The best part of Iboob. Is the informative replys on the forum. Follow the link to P*world reviews of that tablet. It is most definitely NOT a bargain.

I,ve been very close to clicking Order on some items. Till I read the daily forum. Its mostly rubbish they sell with some drawback or flaw. Last years odd-ball stuff.

Hi, Do you reckon i could use this tab in conjunction with this http://www.ebay.ie/itm/IP-webcam-Internet-CCTV-WiFi-camera-infrated-Nightview-/290521874807 to see whats going on in a babys room?

Googling the barcode, it seems to be made by these guys

Only other reference to it I can find is it was up on Groupon in Canada a couple of weeks ago.

I'm a bit wary of it (for no real reason though!).

Well I took a punt and bought one of these. Was looking for an ereader type tablet and this looks decent compared to something like the kindle fire.
    Except:

Single core processor vs dual core from fire
    Bigger screen but lower resolution

    This is it i believe:
    http://www.nextbookusa.com/productdetail.php?product_id=8

I really should have waited as I know tablets will be falling in price soon but dammit I'm impulsive!

    EDIT:
    Having read this - http://forums.hsn.com/hsn_postst26723_Next8P-by-Nextbook.aspx
It seems that perhaps you can only install the amazon app store which I believe only works in US so that could be a significant snag!
    will wait and see.

most of cheap cameras work properly only with internet explorer, but you can probably access picture in some way

keep in mind that those infrared leds although invisible for naked eye (for 920 nm or more, or barely visible for 850 nm) and having not as much energy as visible light can cause same eye irritations and other problems that use of ordinary red led would cause

it is pretty much like having led torch pointed in your face, but even more dangerous as you can't immediately see that it is blinding you so your iris won't block any of the ir that goes into the pupil

basically - unless it is designed as baby monitor (usually with less leds and more sensitive camera) it could be harmful to baby eyes, if pointed directly into face (manuals often says to avoid that anyway)

I bought it too. At bottom of voucher it says you dont have to do anything in this case as they will post the item. Must be just the way the site works with the voucher being emailed regardless.

I'm wary of this deal to be honest, the company dinodirect is based in Hong Kong! Beware of paying import taxes as you will be paying them on the full price of the item and not the discounted price.

My presumption is that crazydeals.ie is reselling them so will have imported them themselves. CC details were taken via realex so I'm thinking its an irish company. I just hope it gets here before xmas.

Edit: On reading their terms it seems we may well get stung for vat. 24 hours to cancel. hmm.... what to do.

Edit 2: I've sent them an email to cancel. Read their terms and they say they only act as 'a marketing service'. Even if import taxes are based on lower price it will still be around 30-40 euro. Not worth it.

I have emailed them also and they are checking to see if we have to pay VAT etc. I have been promised he will get back to me today with details - will post ASAP

In other words - "We collude with others to evade tax".

I wonder what the Revenue Commissioners would make of it.

yup - not for me to question their methods so I will just go with the flow as I am not too worried if they do or don't add on an extra 20 going through customs - still seems like a good enough deal

Well I cancelled mine. Got good customer service from them but it should have been clearer where product was coming from.
Hopefully brand name tablets will come down slightly soon enough.

    it is not
taxes are calculated from the total price you paid (including shipping costs etc.)

otherwise one could sent you 10.000.000 USD woth laptop reduced to 200 USD and you would have to sell your house to pay vat & custom charges
