How long does it take for your money to transfer into your Paypal a/c?

I remember the last time I transferred funds a few months back it wasn't too quick but it wasn't this bad; I've moved money from my bank a/c (Permanent TSB) to Paypal on November 7th and it still hasn't arrived. It has been deducted from my bank balance, I even rang them (Permanant TSB) and they told me that all has been done at thier side. In this age of electronic transfers, I think it would have been quicker to post it! Ridiculous...

I've only done it once. Think it took 7 working days or something like that. I do remember at the time checking up on it and hearing that it can take them a long time sometimes. Have you tried contacting paypal at all?

Typically 3-5 working days. You've been over 2 weeks now, so something has gone wrong. Time to contact Paypal with the details of the payment.

Just been on the phone to them at PayPal, they have no record of any transfer or other activity on my a/c. They've raised the issue to some specialist department and will get back to me within 72 hours. Sh*t...

I had same problem, I transfered money from my AIB account and I'm sure I put correct details. Now after 2 weeks I contacted PayPal support and they told me that they didn't receive enough info from my bank to transfer money to my PayPal account. They also said that due to this issue they will send my money back to my AIB Account.

Btw: Now I want add my AIB account information to my PayPal account but I don't know what should I put in "Bank Name", is "AIB" enough? or should I put like "Allied Irish Banks, p. l. c." ?

Out of curiosity are ye guys using an Irish held Paypal account to credit your Paypal accounts ? The Paypal account I'm been quoted to credit is US held but I want to add a domestic beneficiary bank account to my BOI online so that I can transfer funds with ease.

If someone is asking you to pay by transferring money into their Paypal account, then that's really not a good idea unless you know that person. The Paypal account has to be in the same name as the bank account, so I don't think it's going to work anyway.

I had the same problem. I contacted pay pal and they asked for the following information:
I understand that your top up amount is not yet showing on your PayPal balance.
Please email us with the following details so that we can investigate the matter further.
    Customer Reference ID:
    Date of Transfer:
    Amount and Currency of Transfer:
Last 4 digits of Bank Account Number:
    Name of Banking Institution:
Name of the Bank Account Holder:
We will use this information to find your Top Up funds and if possible, add them to your PayPal balance. If incorrect or incomplete information was provided to your bank at the time of topping up, the transfer may fail. If this happens, your funds will be returned to your bank account within 10 working days. We will contact you by email as soon as we have found your Top Up.
PayPal will not charge any fees for failed Top Ups, however bank fees may apply. In this case, contact your bank.

I did the transfer on the 7th Nov and it still hadn't gone thru by 22nd. A few days after I contacted them the money showed up in my paypal account.

I've just been to my TSB online banking and the money has reappeared in my a/c, it has showed up as a transfer from PayPal. They've not rang me yet as they promised though.

So, the money is taken from my bank a/c but doesn't arrive in my PayPal a/c but when I ring them and ask them why, they send it to me with no explanation as to what has happened

edit: I've just been to my email and they've said "We did receive these funds, however, we were unable to post the funds to your PayPal account. This could be due to the fact that your banking institution did not include pertinent information when they sent the transfer to PayPal. The funds were returned to the originating bank on 21/22/2011."

@ little mickey Did you put your paypal reference in the transaction? They need this so when they receive the money in their bank account to know where to transfer it to.

Same thing happened to me, silly me.

Yea I put that in, did everything exactly as before so I'm none the wiser...

edit: just spotted in my previous post where I copied the piece from PayPal's email, they say the date they returned the money was 21/22/2011. Somebody must have been not quite with it when typing that.

    Added:

I can describe step by step how I did transfer from my AIB account to PayPal account:
    1. I login to my AIB Internet Banking
    2. I went to "Transfer & Payments section"
    3. Manage My Payees
    4. Add new payee
    - Type: "A new payee"
    - Receiver name: "PAYPAL PTE LTD"
    - Receiver NSC: "990061"
    - Receiver account number: "53202043"
    5. After I added new payee I went again to "Transfer & Payments section" and "Manage My Payees", now I choosed PayPal entry and I clicked on "make a payment"
    - Message to appear on receiver statement: "21*MQ*****A"
    - Payment amount: "€ 100"

After a week I still didn't receive my money in PayPal account.

After contacting PayPal Support, they sent message to me:
We have received the top up funds you are inquiring about. However, the funds have not automatically posted due to the fact that your transfer was sent to us without any information but your name.

Unfortunately, this is not enough information to post the funds to your PayPal account these funds will be returned within 30 days of receiving them 11 Nov 2011.

Please note that if the information provided when initiating the add funds transfer was incorrect or incomplete, the transfer will fail. PayPal will not charge any fees, however bank fees may apply. In this case, please contact your bank.

For successful Top Up, always add your full name with the Unique Transfer ID (as it is registered in your PayPal account), when you Top Up your PayPal balance.

    Sincerely,

    PayPal, an eBay Company

    and
    Thank you for contacting PayPal.

Sometimes "Top up" does not process completely due to insufficient information provided when money is transferred to PayPal.

As the bank account was not added on your PayPal account, we are not able to assess if there had been issues on your bank account.

We have received an update from our relevant department that your top up was failed since the transfer did not meet our matching criteria.

Your €100.00 will reverse back on your bank within 10 working days.

To mitigate this from happening in the future, you can consider adding your bank account to your PayPal account.

I don't understand how they could not get enough information from my AIB bank account. Maybe AIB doesn't send enough info, so it is not my fault?

While waiting for refund, I added my AIB account to PayPal (in other words, I just used option in PayPal account "Get verified").
I have typed "Allied Irish Banks, p. l. c." in "Bank type" while adding AIB account to Paypal.
PayPal sent 2 small transfers to my AIB account (few cents). That small amounts appeared in my AIB account after 3 days. During this verification process (1 day before I got status Verified) my missing money (which I send 2 weeks ago) appeared on my PayPal account.

PS: Now I tried to topup my PayPal account again. I have sent €10 and I will let you know if I get it on my PayPal account without contacting PayPal support.
Added: Ok, after 3 working days I received my money in PayPal account transfered from my AIB account (but now my PayPal account is verified - my AIB account is added to PayPal successfully)

Btw: For successful Top Up, always add your full name with the Unique Transfer ID (as it is registered in your PayPal account), when you Top Up your PayPal balance.
But I can not put my name and reference id together in field "Message to appear on receiver statement:" because it only let me to put 18 digits.
