Audi english reg car

    Hi, looking to buy an 99 audi (eng reg) car but not sire what i need to do or how much it will cost to reg it?? it is a private sale

    advice please?

    If it's being sold in Ireland then you must remember they're supposed to vrt it straight away. Either there's a reason they don't wanna vrt it or theyre a small time dealer. Either way I'd avoid, no nct, no tax,

    Vrt would be 400 odd by the way

    owners says it is MOT/NCT till feb 2012, has all paperwork except logbook, dont want to spend mad money on getting it reg/taxed etc as its not brand new :rolleyes:

    thanks for that, so whats the story with all the eng reg cars on the road here? same to assume they are avoiding paying tax on them? what happens when stopped at garda checkpoint??

    Why dont you just buy one already on irish plates and save yourself all the hassle? I would understand your approach if it was a much newer car but it's an old 99' Audi.

    Unless it's somthing special like an RS4....

    Plenty of Audis on donedeal that would probably suit you. Take into account when you reg the car on Irish plates you have the hassle of getting it NCT'd, it could fail and need money spent on it.

    This is good advice. Have a passat (basically the same car)and the lovely NCT people love failing it on the front control arms and drop links etc. Which arent the cheapest to fix and tend to go every few years. Might be safer with an NCT.

    Unless your pretty handy with automobiles.
