    ...where's the catch?

    http://www.nissan.ie/offers/twice-as-nice/

Ok so you don't get a discount as a cash buyer but surely this would be less than the first years depreciation. Im guessing the trade in value of the car being traded in might not be fantastic. Looking at the Qashqai, are these not popular anymore or is this a run out model or something. Restrictions on mileage (kilometerage?) aren't too bad either @ 20k p.a.

No trade in, pay full list, you end up with a Nissan. Twice.

You have to have the full purchase price so no HP or dealer finance. Suppose you could get a bank loan but with the way things are what are the chances of that?

I did this 6 years ago. Got finance off the garage at the time. Got two new cars. Was grand. I would never buy a new car again, but if you're willing to buy one, it's not bad at all

Buy a Renault. Same car and look better.

I'm looking at trading my 2010 QQ+2 for a 2012. The twice is nice deal would add 2.5k to my cost to change (which isn't actually that bad at all) but it's just a bit of a stretch too far and (and I know this is completely irrational) I'm not sure I want a 13-D reg car

Which Renault is the same and / or better looking than the Quashqai?

Why are you looking to trade up? Would you recommended the + 2 over the std model. Haven't seen inside one yet but read the extra seats are not the most practical.

Tempted to trade 08 Qashqai for 12 model. Wasn't looking at this option so interested in the responses.

I was talking to a Nissan dealer about it yesterday, there's no catch, you can trade in (don't expect any favours there) and they are doing the usual dealer finance.

The 2 rearmost seats in the Qashqai +2 aren't huge obviously, but are more than adequate for kids or adults on a short journey. Boot size is small with the seats in place though.

Am trading up now as I got a good deal on the trade-in. It was a "change it now or keep it for the foreseeable" type of decision. The 2012 model is a face lifted version of my current one with extra gadgets inside (gps, reversing camera etc). I am going for a petrol model which suits my driving needs better (mostly sub-10k journeys). I couldnt believe how quiet the petrol model is compared to mine. The 2012 petrol is the same tax as my 2010 diesel (302, down from 447). It has stop-start and even a few more bhp than the non-facelift petrol.

I would choose the +2 over the standard one as I've three kids and often have to drop off or collect other kids as well as mine, so the extra seats are very handy ( but really only good for pre-teens; adolescents and bigger folks would find them cramped for any but the shortest of journeys). Also, with the 3rd row folded down, boot space is great for me. If I ever need more room, I could stick a roof box on top; roof rails come as standard.

If you only have 1 or 2 kids then the standard one would probably be fine for you, it is a few grand cheaper.

Kinda off topic - but are you being serious here? Whats the issue with a 13 reg car?

Have heard some dealers also saying this - people will not buy in 13 due to the plate.

    Are people that superstitious?

I did say it was irrational :)
But, no, the primary reason for not doing it is the €2500 extra I'd need to come up with now, and the secondary one being by 2014 I'll probably need to start looking for a full-size seven-seater (like an XC90) as my eldest daughter and her friends won't fit in the back seats of the QQ any more, so will be happy to trade in a 2-year old 2012 QQ then.

Considering Nissan are slowly turning into Renault at this stage. Would the Scenic not be a better looking car with WAY more space to boot over the Quashqai? If I was considering either brand, I'd consider that.

A big factor for me was the look, after test driving a good few 7-seaters in the 25-30k price bracket (5008, Grand Scénic, Zafira, C4 Picasso as well as the QQ) (no Grand C-Max at the time), I decided I didn't want to be part of the minivan brigade, and went with the crossover.

    Think so.

I recently moved into an estate with 79 houses, but they're numbered 1-80 'cause they never made a number 13!

2 new Nissans? That's like getting kicked in the nuts twice.

Man, life's too short to be driving any Nissan other than the loola machines they made in the 80s and 90's, and the 370z (I won't mention the 350, as I always thought it was cheaply made despite the drive quality).
