Can anybody tell me if the fuel pump from a 2004 focus would be the same as the fuel pump from a 99 focus ?
The pump in the 99 is gone and i've got my hands on a pump from a 04 but can't see if there a match until i drop the fuel tank.....
    Any input ??

You could take a look at some of the online parts places and see if their part numbers match, or try Ebay.
AFAIK the 1st major change was in 2005 so you may be OK.

    edit. A quick look on Ebay throws this up;

Great. thanks for that. Look's like i'll be ok to do a straight swap ! It's a pity i just put 65 euro worth of petrol into the car right before the pump gave up !! Typical

Can you not get to the pump from under the back seat. Most cars have a bolt-on cover that give access to the pump.
Not sure about the focus, but a quick look at some of the Ford forums might help.

    Syphon it out?

Afraid not. There's only a small access hole that the wiring runs through. I've got to take the tank out unless anybody can suggest a shortcut ???

    If you stuck for money.

Part 2 is there as well, just click into it and you'll see it somewhere. Saves you the bother of dropping the tank but might be a bit dodgy, never tried it.

I'd be going with Plug's idea. It's not structural (or particularly structural....in case one of Henry Ford's descendants is online here).
An angle grinder with a THIN disc would be my weapon of choice, just barely cut through the panel. Some would use a Dremel but I couldn't afford all those little cutting discs !!!

Stick a bit of wood through the grommet hole to protect whatever is below where you are cutting.

And if one of the pipes were leaking and the sparks of the angle grinder met the fuel. That would not be a good idea:p
A good tough snips should do the trick.

Good video all right. Think it's a runner as im not too bothered about ripping into the body of the car. I'm thinking more along the lines of drilling lots of 2/3mm holes close together, and maybe a few junior hacksaw blades to cut between the holes. Either that or try a heavy duty tin snipes i have. I would be a wee bit nervous about grinding so close to the fuel pump/tank.

its a dead handy pump to change when on a ramp woundnt take an hour to do .as for grinding a hole from under seat , let it go ,, before it ends in tears ,grinders /fuel / goodnight for the sake of 100 quid to get someone to do it right. and even more annoyin if u damage any of those plastic pipes a bigger pain in the ass,

Your dead right to be concerned and i'll take it on board but need's must, so i'll be tackling it in the morning. It's a 100 euro too much as far as im concerned so game on. Christmas around the corner and so on.. ;)All i can say is that Ford Focus experience has been terrible for me.... :(
