have been married abroad what next

    hi ive been married since august to my wife whos polish
    we got married in poland
    has anyone any idea what we have to do now that were married
    ie register our wedding here or is it registered by my priest when the forms from the church in poland were sent back to him

    also what would we need for me to claim her tax credits

    You dont' have to register the marriage here at all. You can just tick the "married" box on forms whenever it arises!

    When you get home from getting married you send a letter to the Revenue quoting both your PPS numbers advising them that you are now married and how you want your tax treated - i.e. seperate or joint assessment or seperately. You can call them to discuss if you want. There's no rush either, I did it a year after I got married.
