    Hi,

First of all, I'm a student, doing my Erasmus year in Barcelona, so without a laptop, I'm kinda in trouble!

Anyway, I've a Dell Inspiron 1545 for the last two and a half years I think. A few weeks ago, the battery broke, but that didn't bother me too much as I could leave it plugged in and it worked. But two days ago, the hardrive decided to brake. I did manage to backup all my files which was okay but the laptop is banjaxed at the moment!

From looking around eBay, I think I could get a replacement hardrive and a new battery, delivered for around 150/200 euro. But then, I ain't sure if this would definitely work and fix the laptop.

But then, on the other hand I could probably get a brand new laptop for around 400/450 euro, and I'd be guaranteed it'd work!

Any advice on what I should do?

    Cheers,
    Anto

Do you need to have a battery for it? If not, just get a hard drive for 40 quid and set it up on that.

Well, sort of. I was thinking of getting a battery in the last few days, but then the laptop broke so I didn't...

Although, I guess to save money, 40 quid to use the laptop again wouldn't be too bad? Then just transfer the files over and I'd be set up again.
