Some sort of military practice targets

Doesn't it say in the blog that it's a major radar array powered by wind turbines..
All the major nations are or have mad sh1t when it comes to millitary bases etc..
But people seem to think it's a threat to every person on the plannet when China have it

Fact is that America & Britain invade many many more countries round the world and their human rights track record while doing this isn't the best either..

Some are spy satellite calibration marks. One may be a tailings pond from mining operations.

Google generally block out top secret stuff on their maps, so if it was anything out of the ordinary, I'd have thought China would have gotten them to do that.

It's very strange looking stuff, though.

Generally they don't, it's actually quite rare. The number they do pixelate or blur is tiny compared to the ones they don't touch. Nothing in the USA is pixelated, they only down the resolution a bit. I'm only aware of the Dutch, Spanish, French and Germans pixelating a small few of their military and/or nuclear installations. China have many installations not hidden on GE like the scale model at Huangyangtan of the part of the Himalayas where China and India have a border dispute and the super secret submarine base at Longpocun outside of Sanya on Hainan Island. Besides that, a quick Google for 'china satellite calibration' shows plenty of articles pointing to the answer I gave.

Back in the day when google maps was uncensored, armchair spymasters had a field-day.. searching China, they found an enormous scale mock-up of the Chinese/Indian border complete with all watchtowers, etc - prob gave the Indians some pause for thought.

That's the one I refered to and it can still be found uncensored at 38°15'56.35"N 105°57'6.12"E. Again Google Maps/Earth has very, very little censorship.

There's quite a few that are censored. I remember there being a topic on it before. One of the ways they did it was by copying and pasting an area of map over the specific site (the thread on here was about a site in Russia, I think). And considering how censored google is in china, and how much google wants to stay in the Chinese market, if China wanted it censored, I'd say google would fold in seconds.

There's a link here: http://www.maximumpc.com/article/features/access_denied_18_places_google_maps_wont_let_you_see#slide-5 which shows some of the ways that sites are covered. Some were censored, but then revealed (like the White House) and others are still censored. A lot of the time you wouldn't even know that something was meant to be there unless you were really looking for it.

I remember there being a story a while ago about insurgents using google maps info to attacks military bases in Iraq/Afghanistan. I'd say anywhere google is asked to censor, the censor.

I'd say its a decoy while they start developing nukes underground.

The Chinese could have a secret Stargate project and be engaging in hilarious weekly adventures with a team led by a Chinese version of McGuyver and with this guy tagging along for sh1ts and giggles

just out of curiousness lads how did google get the mapping for all the pixilated stuff on google maps. there are areas that planes cannot fly over for security such as the huge area around croom lake nevada yet search it and it comes up which means it was military photography hat one it and processed it and offered it to google when they came asking hence there isn't a huge line up of jets and tanks and whatnot on display for the world to see every other country with secres do the same. the pixilated stuff is generated for areas not photographed its not satellite imagery you know:D
