I'll be out in lovely Skerries next weekend.

Do any of the brothers know of an off-road route in the area I could abuse a mountain bike on for 2 or 3 hours?
Can I cycle to say Gormanstown along the cliffs or something?

Sh1t wrong forum! Trying to delete this, Beasty, Havoc anyone?

Best bet would be the cycle track in Ardgillan though at the weekend it would be busy as it's not 'closed' to people out walking their dogs etc. Not very technical but a nice descent but the uphill part is mostly on tarmac.
Much more fun in the snow :)

Cycle out to Gormonstown and theres a niceroute around the school.
The Stamullen lads use it and the school are happy enough as long as you don't cause a nuisance.

What school would that be then?

I remember there used to be a motocross track you could see from the train. What's the story there I wonder?

That would be the motocross track at Gormanston. :p
Seriously I think it could be on private ground but not 100% sure.

I presume RobFowl is refferring Gormanston college. Didnt know there was a track in there but would be very quiet.
The college is just down the road from the Huntsman pub. Take the side/narrow road down the side of the pub heading for stamullen.Take a right for stamullen and the school and grounds are on the left hand side with the playing pitches on the right hand side.

The motocross circuit that you mention may be the ballast pit beside Skerries train station. The council have just finished putting an excellent path across it to help us hard pressed commuters. This has effectively cut the ballast pit in half and seriously limit how much fun you could have.

A ride through Millverton Demense may be possible at the moment. Its private land but NAMA have taken away the security guards and a lot of locals are taking it walks around it. Its just outside Skerries, beside chez Beasty. From Milverton its just a mile or so to Ardgillan if you want to put the two together.
