I have an 8 speed Shimano Nexus that is running dry. Does any one know a bike shop or bicycle mechanic that can regrease these in Galway? I know this is a long shot as I have only read of two in Dublin that do this.

BTW not being rude but If you don't know what I'm talking about please don't post to suggest trying some bike shop you got a puncture fixed in.

    Thanks in advance.

are they much different from sturmy archer hubs? if not it would be pretty simple to take it apart and grease it

I think the Nexus 8 uses a simple oil bath. It should just be a matter of draining it and refilling...

Eric in Moycullen Bike Works - he built the wheel around a Shimano Inter-7 internal hub for my Electra Townie based Xtracycle. Was the only bike mechanic who wasn't put off by internal hubs. I got lots of guff from other bike shops about having to order specialised tools and how uncommon they were. Eric on the other hand said; grand, I'll get the parts, there's nothing particularly difficult about this as he'd worked on plenty and did a great job. Part of the initial install of these requires the mechanic to grease it so I'd say he's the person for this job.

Sounds Good. Thanks. BTW any pics of your XtraCycle?

There are some here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ciotog/sets/72157622336812089/ - I haven't actually cycled it since I moved last February as I had to dismantle it to move it and need to clear the shed so I can park it fully assembled. The Electra Townie as a 'donor' bike for it is a joy.

Is that the complete bike from Xtracycle or is that a Townie with the Xtracycle kit?

It's a Townie with the xtracycle kit (the Free Radical kit: http://www.xtracycle.com/freeradical) - I got a pretty good deal on the combo of the Townie + kit when I purchased it (under the bike to work scheme too ftw).
