The discounts are usually awful, 5% or less. But worth waiting for if you've been looking to buy something from Apple.

    It'll be between 5% - 10% off prices currently.

If that's the case you're better off buying your Apple stuff in Dublin airport (or any other airport) in the Dixons travel shop.
Discount usually >10% (better than Apple student discount etc).
Saw some nice offers yesterday on the "old models" MacBook pro (they now come with bigger HDD as standard, that's the only change)
On offer the 13inch i7 500GB model for GBP950 (approx EUR1100 instead of RRP EUR1499)
    The cheaper 13inch i5 320GB was going for GBP750 IIRC (so that's EUR870 instead of RRP 1199)
These were special (last stock) offers, but like I said all Apple Products (also the current macs/iPads/iPods) are considerably cheaper in Dixons travel shops

Are they likely to give 10% off the ipad 2?

    Nope.. not likely.

    Probably between 3% - 5% on that I'd say.

EDIT: Actually.. I stand corrected - they had €40 off the iPad 1 last year!

Will this be in addition to the standard education discount. I'm hoping the education store will be discounted as well.

Me too, I'm in a rush to get a new laptop but I'm not sure if I should hold off!

That was the difference between me getting an nice Christmas present last year or not!

I'll be keeping an eye out but don't have high hopes

    Hi Boardies,

I will be flying to New York this friday 25th of November and staying there til Monday 28th of November, where would be the best place to buy an Ipad 2 with the black friday discount? :p

There is a rumour of $400 iPad 2's on Black Friday in the US.. but nothing's confirmed!

If they're at a price like that, stock will be very short and just youtube "Black Friday Stampede" - it's not worth it!

does anyone knows if Dixon on Dublin Airport has iPhones 4S without Sim-lock?
I plan to buy one, probably will get it from Apple website on Black Friday, but if Dixon has them and has better prices... I might wait few weeks and get it before I take off.

Rubbish! The person you were talking to was trash! Probably had no idea what apple's international support policy was and didn't want to say the wrong thing

See http://www.apple.com/legal/warranty/ and then wander off to the various pdf's

I have *never* had a problem with *any* apple product I've brought in for repair (when I have had to) - ranging from mac minis, imacs, macbook pro's etc!

The one thing the warranty does say however is that you would be responsible for shipping if there is no place within your country!

Was doing some research about this during the week as I'm off to the States next year. The overwhelming answer on the web is once the iPad is legally bought & you have a receipt or a valid serial number (to show it's a genuine Apple product) then it's covered by an international warranty.

    anyyywaaayyy,

using the public sector discount site as posted here before, it looks like you'd get further discounts. (not anything substantial by the way, existing "discount" off an ipad is about 11 euro off the normal apple price...)

The most underwhelming and rubbish sales ever...

They wont encourage people on the fence to buy, they wont encourage a random splurge.

Literally a bonus for those already decided on an Apple product to save some money.

A decent discoutn I'd be first in line to pick one up.

I guess I just dont like the way they go for profit over market share, hence having such abnormally high prices, that are never subject to any good deals...

Apple store is now listing the new prices for Black Friday.

You'd save: €35-55 on iPads, €21-41 on iPod Touch, €11 on iPod Nano, €91 on MacBook Air, MacBook Pro and iMacs.

The one thing I might have considered about becoming interested in was the mac mini, and there's no discount on it!!

    Wankbags!!

no extra discount - the black friday sale price is the same in the apple store, thru the above site and thru the education page.

Im working in South Africa at the moment and coming back in a few weeks...

16GB wifi is 4499ZAR which work out at €395 and I can claim the 14% vat back so works out at around €340

Still about €100 cheaper than buying in Dublin...

We are getting screwed in Ireland...

not true rick. I picked up an ipad2 the other day for €389 thru my business (i.e. ex vat) and then got a further 4% back from bethrify. bringing it down to about €375.

so yes its cheaper in SA, but not by €100 if you take the like for like.

Hey guys, have any of you ordered anything off of Apple before. I ordered a Macbook today and received an email from EUROFINANCE@euro.apple.com asking me to confirm my identity. They want me to submit a copy of:

    1) Card holders Drivers license or National Identity Card or Passport and
    2) Recent Credit Card / Bank Statement showing card holder name, address and card number.

Has this happened to anyone before?

This sounds very dodgy to me.....I wouldn't be giving anyone over the net that information....I'd try and get a phone number and ring them direct....Never had this happen to me...

Hmm it's not uncommon - reckon it's legit.

How liable retailers are with regard to credit card fraud when remote selling is quite surprising. Going that one step further, as in this case, limits their liability. IIRC that is.

If you look at the second result on google, it goes on to explain that it's a security measure they use to verify that you are the cardholder!!

Still, I would never pass this information onto anyone!!

I created a fatcheese account to get that 5% cashback before buying a Mac during the Black Friday, but I can't see the transaction on my account :(

I followed the link on their website, and I saw how the URL of the Apple store included the fatcheese referral/afiliate ID.

Is this normal? Does it takes some days to appear? As I told you, it has been my first transaction through fatcheese, so noob question, yeah :)

@TheIrishClassic The only mail I received was the order confirmation, including the delivery date btw.

I also purchased through my fatcheese account and still no sign of it, so I'm almost glad someone else is in the same boat. Anything else I've gotten through the site has showed up by now. But I won't worry just yet, if there is no sign in a few days I'll follow it up. The only mail I've received is the order confirmation & delivery date of Dec 1st.
