    Stupid question but does anyone know what the 'T' stands for in 91T part. I know nothing when it comes to tyres and have a feeling that the local tyre guy is either just messing with me or it really means something important.

    The T is the speed rating of the tyre basically.
    you should always keep them the same as original even if you think the car will never do that speed as the different ratings would have different rubber compounds etc.

    A "T" speed rating means that the tyre can be run at 118 mph for a period of 10 minutes without disintegrating. It does not mean the tyre can be run safely over an extended period at 118 mph.

    If you want to be overly anal, its 10 mins at the maximum temperature range that the tyre is designed for.

    Buts that just as pointless.

    Tyres on my 1.0 vitz are 175/65/14 82T and the car can't exceed 150 km/h so it may be perfectly safe or not depends on the maximum speed of the car.
