Great free to air coverage on TV this weekend of all the provinces.

    Friday 25/11 7.30pm Glasgow v Ulster RTE2, BBC2NI, BBCALBA

    Saturday 26/11 1.45pm Treviso v Leinster RTE2

    6.30pm Connacht v Ospreys TG4, S4C

    8.30pm Munster v Edinburgh TG4

Interesting that we have live coverage from Italy.
Also TG4 have Rugby on from 6.15 to 10.50 on a Saturday night.
Fair play to them. No doubt for some it will still be not good enough;)

Once again, TG4 have really stepped up to the mark this year.
Where are all the naysayers and non native tongues now?
Franno should get a bit of cop on too after his outburst.
A presenter in a private T.V. station using his position as a journalist to condem a semi public broadcaster who promotes the Irish language? Only in Ireland.

Good to see the Leinster game is on, has a deal been sorted with the Italian stations?

It's great to have the games on the box but even better that the games are televised from Italy and Scotland. This hasn't been the case up until now!

Some station has signed a deal to cover Italian games (the name escapes me). So we should have coverage from here on in.

truthfully for the sake of the league I am happier that the leinster match is now being shown on Italian FTA TV then for the fact we are getting to see it. Hopefully it can help advertise the game there

it's Rai showing it there http://www.rabodirectpro12.com/11498.php

Seems a bit strange to have 3 broadcasters all covering the same match i.e. Glasgow vs Ulster but I suppose it will increase viewing figures allowing as many in Ireland and Scotland as possible to see the game. BTW Munster vs Edinburgh is also being covered by BBC Alba and while I can't understand a word of Irish I'm still delighted with TG4 having almost 4 hours of rugby on Saturday night.

Ná bíodh aon imní ort, a chara! Tá neart eolais le fáil ar suíomh idirlíne TG4:

    http://www.tg4.ie/ie/programmes/rugby-on-tg4/dictionary.html

    Cúpla sa bhreis:
    Ionadaí; substitute
Laoch na himirce; man of the match
    Comórtas; competition
    Mumhan/Uladh/Laighin; Munster/Ulster/Leinster
Droch/Sár; prefixes meaning awful/great, e.g drochchic; terrible kick, sár-úd; great try

    And most importantly,

    Finscéal; legend (doesn't quite translate...)

I was very proud that I knew most of them already. The ones I didn't know were ones you'd pick up by watching the match. I mean I couldn't have told you what a flanker/prop/hooker was in Irish but once you hear it, you'd still know what they mean.

They generally use fairly basic Irish with a lot of words close to English. So even if you don't pick up every word, you'd still get a general idea of what they're talking about.

I was over in Holland and watching football on tv there, you'd have a certain idea what certain words are when they're repeated. I guess it's the same in any language. (Though Irish should be easier for most Irish people if they listened at all in school for 13-14 years)

Thanks for Irish words, very much appreciated. I keep hearing the following phrase during matches and this is my transliteration of it so forgive me if it's not clear but does anyone have any idea what it means - 'balta shane'? BTW fixtures up to March now almost all decided for ProDirect - see http://www.rabodirectpro12.com/matchcentre/fixtures_list.php

Can you rewatch the leinster game on saturday with the RTE player at any time after the match?

Probably but it usually takes 24 hours for RTE to put something on the RTE player since Setanta have delayed transmission rights.

I'd advise you to record and watch when ever you want.

BBC alba and BBc ni are just two parts of the same broadcaster really
