In the market for a new used car around the €1,000 price range. So far I've had a 206, 2x Focus and a Rover 25 so something along those lines. A 1.4 engine and 5 doors. Then the most important thing about it all... Cup Holders. After spilling hot coffee on my lap I've learnt my lesson. Cup holders are vital!

I think the fabia has cup holders.. do any other similar cars have? Oh, and I mean proper cup holders not the door inserts where they don't work properly with paper cups.

    For real dude?

The most important thing you look for in a car is .................. cup holders!?!:eek::eek:

Well not the most important but obviously I'm not going to buy a ****box just because it has cupholders but I really want the next car I buy to have them.

I brought a mechanic with me to the docks when getting my Civic...... he got very excited about the cup holders. :(

How about an OLD OLD Micra OP ? Bomb proof !

You could always get cup holders fitted temporarily in a car?

We need pics tbh. My cupholder is useless as it's directly in front of the gearstick so if ya decide to use ya can't change gear easily!

You need a Saab 9-3, you probably won't find one for your budget, but look at the cupholder :D

Volvo S60 is all about the cup holders! Amazing they are.

And I totally get it OP. Cup holders are essential. My husband bought an old E200 and the cup holders are 1. in the glove compartment and 2. Crap, they aren't deep enough for any proper cup of tea!

I can't help though with the smaller cars, trying to think where my mam's are in her Yaris but I think they're fairly crap aswell!

Man this is a seriously whitewhine.com post :o

I don't know if I've ever had a cup in any of my cars! You shouldn't be drinking tea while you're driving!

Drove back from London through the night and wanted a coffee as a bit of a boost. Had to have it between my legs which is makes it quite difficult to drive so in the end after half of it spilling on me I had to chuck it out. Drink holders are brilliant. Even for bring fast food home.

I used to do regular Sligo to Cork runs and the advice on that kind of length is to pull in for your tea and take a 5 minute break.
Not many people have to drive overnight from London back to Ireland regularly!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,930 ✭✭✭galwayjohn89

True, but I've got a feeling I'll be doing it again soon plus drive up North quite a bit and even for those lengths I need my coffee. I have a slight addiction!

Honda CRV mk1 has a little table with two cup holders between the seats. You could have buns too for your tea party.

Noise cancelling speakers should help with the noisy missus! You'll have to box her up and send her to an aucustic engineer to measure what specific frequencies you'll need to play to cancel her nagging first though.

Seat Arosa's are awesome fun, and come with cup holders. :)

    Maybe a little too small?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,930 ✭✭✭galwayjohn89

Arosa would be too small but liking the cup holders! Seem much better than the focus's attempt which was around three times to big for any cups.

Reminds me when I was driving to a party in a friends house and I was having a non-alcholoic Erdinger beer when I got stoppped by the Guards. The face on the Garda was something I will never forget. He was like wtf is going on here. Priceless stuff

That is so awesome, I'll have to try that!
And have bags of powdered sugar upon my person in zip lock bags, almost worth the aggro!
(Warning, it is an offense to take the piss out of a Gard, you can get smart no problem he/she can't tell)

A sliding tray above the CD tray - mine has them

I had a MkIV Golf myself and the cup holders are quite decent. They could hold a supersized BK drink without issue if needs be.

Also if you had the CL spec there were two more at the foot of the arm rest for the people in the back seats as well. A small bonus if you wanted a tea party in the car.
