I'm an absolute sucker for the festive season.

Was at woodies over the weekend and saw that christmas trees go for almost €200 - today groupon has a pretty good deal (and yes i did buy it) on trees.

    http://www.groupon.ie/deals/dublin/bodini/1709205

5ft Christmas Tree in Green or Black (€21) or 6ft Christmas Tree in Green, Gold, or Black (€29) from Bodini (Up to 68% Off)
Christmas trees, like people, like lots of presents, can sometimes molt, and look a lot prettier wrapped in tinsel. Deck the halls with today’s Groupon from: Bodini. Choose from the following options:

    • €21 for a 5ft Christmas tree in black or green

    • €29 for a 6ft Christmas tree in black, green, or gold

    Hi,

I got one these as well, but when I got to use my groupon code it says it's not valid. Anyone else having the same problem?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,104 ✭✭✭ryaner777

Be careful of the extra €10 for postage

Another €10 for postage makes a 6ft black one €40.

One in argos with lights for €32

bit confused about this.bought a voucher for a 6ft tree worth €58.50 for €29. Then on website tree comes up as being worth £79 or €80 and when i apply my discount in euro i get a discount of €79 but p&p is €13.99 plus my €1 for the tree so i end up saying €29 for the voucher + €14.99 on top of that.anyone else getting all this!not a bad exchange rate though!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8 Rokc10

My voucher code is working now, was charged €14.99 for delivery, hope i get it before Christmas!

    Hi,

my voucher code works now, but when I go to pay the p&p they don't except laser, even though I booked the deal on my laser. This tree is becoming more of a pain in the a$$ already!!
Anyone else with the same problem?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 134 ✭✭Peppa

I have just cancelled mine and asked for a full refund. No way am I paying more for delivery that advertised and when I contacted Groupon eventually by phone and customer service girl said I had to go to retailer site and use the Groupon info button and then contact them directly but she neglected to tell me that I had to order first before I could use this to contact them. Neither company have responded to my emails.

As far as I am concerned I wouldn't use either site again.

Groupon as their customer service is not up to it and contacting them is difficult and as a consumer this makes me very nervous. After all reputation is what they trade on and they have already been pulled up for false advertising in the UK. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-13349671

Bodini as they have falsely advertised and as they haven't responded to my email and seem unwilling to do anything about it even though they have been made aware of this and are they going to refund those who paid the €5 extra?

Also the 4 week delivery means time is ticking and who wants a Christmas tree delivered after Christmas?

So its not for under €30, but here some REAL christmas trees

This one €30-40 but no online shop:

Last year, and i pressume this year you can go up to wicklow near johnnie foxes pub and pick out your own tree and they cut it for ya. All trees ,all sizes only 30euro and its a nice day out in mountains. Same tree in Dublin city would be nearer 70euro

i'm having problems with that groupon deal too.
bought the deal and then noticed the next day when i logged on to groupon that payment was not accepted, so i went and bought again. but when i went to my emails after this there was a voucher there from the first deal that i bought, it had gone through!!!
so now i have 2 vouchers except for some reason my 2nd voucher has not been sent to my email yet!!!
when went to use the voucher i had, delievery was £17, logged on that pm and delievery was down to £11.99-still not the e9.99 price advetised.
i have contacted groupon and christmas tree company by email wih no reply!!
only thing is if that people have paid by credit card they can put there complaint to visa card company and hopefully get money back.

Bought 6ft tree on Groupon site on 22/11. Received email back instantly thanking me for order and saying voucher would be emailed shortly. €29 charged on CC on 23/11 and still no voucher. Emailed support@citydeals.ie and phone 1800 number but no reply from either. My Groupon account on their website said deal was not fully subscribed yet. Eventually got through this morning on 1800 number and cancelled. 5 days for CC to be refunded. Questioned why card was charged if I had no voucher she had no answer. Unsubscribed from email this morning. Something dodgy about this crowd.

I contacted Groupon earlier, after waiting 15mins eventually spoke with a so called customer service (some girl who read from a script........) I was told I could cancel and get a refund or get a new voucher code reissued, both would take 5 days. When I questioned there policy she got extremely aggressive and rude. I asked if she could contact bodini directly and explain that there was an issue with there codes but she refused. I explained if I waited another 5 days for the voucher to be reissued and a possible 2 - 3 week for delivery that it would probably be after Christmas day before I would receive this order. Refused to pass me on to her supervisor, and kept stating that this is all she could do and that was it (so tough sh** basically). As someone commented earlier this crowd depend on word of mouth, can't see them lasting long with this kind of attitude.

I then contacted bodini.com directly by telephone and spoke with their customer service who asked me to forward my voucher and details by email. Still waiting for them to get back to me so fingers crossed.... oh FYI I was told 6ft green trees are now out of stock.

Hey I've had similar problem. Bought tree over 4 weeks ago with 2-3 weeks delivery. Not heard from them at all. Contacted them through bodini 3 times no reply. Even phoned and was put to answer machine. Tried contacting clouds memory foam waiting on reply. What number were you able to phone them on thanks

Update: I have now escalated a dispute via PayPal as they refuse to communicate with me and I have requested my money back within the terms and conditions quoted.

I also have unsubscribed from them but continue to get some emails (not as many as before) and just keep unsubscribing to them. Never again!

Maybe we need Joooooooooooe Duffffffffffffy on the case :D

Sounds like you all had a bad experience. Glad I didnt but it.

But on a positive note, I've bought a lot of groupon deals and have never had any problems.

Well I ended up ordering 2 vouchers by accident. Groupon managed to cancel the second one and I got my refund as stated in the conditions.

Just leaves me with a 14.99 postage bill instead of 9.99. I intend pursuing that directly with Bodini.

Mind you the tree on their website is supposedly more expensive than what the voucher was for. Not sure what was going on there.

Just hope I get the one I ordered on my other voucher in plenty of time for Christmas!

I cancelled (with Groupon) as I was within the 7 days as per their contract. However, they only acknowledged this once I raised a dispute via paypal.

That's not right either. That's a bit like arranged marriages in retarded countries. You have got to choose and approve the tree yourself!

i got a reply today to a 'virginia moukatas' saying that there was a problem with the delivery of your 6ft gold tree.

First of all I'm not virginia moukatas, and secondly I didnt order a gold tree.

These guys are jokers, pure and simple.

Would you like to disclose this fabulously priced service? We just moved into our own place this year, so I've never had to buy a real tree before... no idea where the bargains are!

Glencullen Christmas Tree Farm - you can pick the tree that you like and they cut it for you. I think (don't quote me on it) they sell any size tree for 30 euro. Pretty good selection there too.
