Anyone leave a Cube Attempt on Georges St, near the corner of Exchequer St?

Bars, forks, front wheel and saddle are gone. Kryptonite lock and Cable is holding the frame to the bike stand.

Even the chain is missing... something fishy about that, perhaps this has been stripped by the owner who might have lost their key/crashed the bike? Surely a bike thief would be able to overcome the lock in a shorter time than it would take to strip it?

Could be. Although the back wheel is on a QR and doesn't seem to be secured.

EDIT - back wheel IS secured.

It has been stripped gradually, noticed it a few weeks back. Seems a bit strange alright. Kryptonite locks come with a couple of spares and you can get one sent out if you lose all of them. Hope nothing has happened to the owner.

I wonder does it belong to the guy who posted here a few weeks back who couldn't remember where he locked his bike.
It looks too good to be abandoned but maybe its owner has fallen for another and is happy. C'est la vie.

Cheapo pedals. Always a sure giveaway of a B2W purchase. Why would someone go to such lengths to buy a decent bike and properly secure it, then abandon it on the street for weeks?

Also seems odd that scummers would go to such lengths to strip it. Though you could remove the front end in about 60 seconds with one allen key and a cable snips. Maybe there's a few quid in the spare parts?

Shame to let the frame, crankset and wheel go to waste. I wonder what kind of hoops you need to jump through with the Gardai before you can legitimately take an angle grinder to the lock?

The guts of €1200. My mind, it boggles.

As for removing it, wasn't there a thread on this last year?

Minefield I imagine... although I seem to recall someone saying that Rothar get frames and parts of abandoned bikes from DCC.

Its possible that the owner never intended to leave the bike there for a long period. Maybe something has happened the owner. i.e. Illness/accident, and he/she had no option but to leave the bike there. I hope I'm wrong though.
