they must be comfortable enough to be in for a full days hunting.

i use cheap co-op ones at the min but i reckon they give me pains in the calfs after 4-5hrs in them

    what do ye recommend??

The other half has a pair like these

    http://www.bestboots.co.uk/vierzon_air_confort_wellington_boots.htm

He swears by them and although they're a bit on the expensive side, he says you could stay walking in them all day and then some!

got a pair of muck boots a few months back very comfortable but your feet and lower legs sweat like feic in them in this mild weather

I've got the muck boots too - and I prefer them to any I've had.

Muck Boot - Derwent - Green - All Rounder

Mainly for the fact that the boots are secure around the calf and easy to get on and off - just roll the boot down!

I have the verzenord boots, they really are the biz.
they were slightly tight when I bought them but they do stretch a little.

I used to wear hiking boots and gaitors but the support from the Le chameau boots is just as good, just as warm and dryer.

I'm getting these if I ever have the cash. Friend of mine has a pair and they are serious. I reckon you could walk up walls with the grip on them.

If I'm out for any length of time I leave the wellies behind and wear some good boots and gaitors. Might be another option worth exploring.

There is ALOT of cleaning, drying, waxing/polishing in a pair of boots to keep them in good order. I've been wearing boots for years and have recently made the switch back to the wellie and I won't be going back again.
It would be different if I was in the hills stalking deer the whole time, then a boot might be a better option.

I suppose it will all depend on the terrain you are covering at the end of the day.

Bought a pair of these from this crowd cheaper then anywhere else and an official stockist... cost me 130euro delivered, most sites including hunter sell them for 130sterling. http://www.ebay.ie/itm/Hunter-Wellington-Boots-Balmoral-Bamboo-Carbon-Size-8-/270794290814?pt=UK_Women_s_Shoes&hash=item3f0c98f67e

    How heavy are they .?

    If you don't mind.......:)

Was going to get a pair of Muckboots but someone introduced me to Dunlops, got them for 17e and there absolutely comfortable. The farmer next door swears by them and has had the same pair for few years now. I had a pair of Sherwood before and they where absolute ****e, first pair I had them for 2 weeks and the sole broke in half, inside neoprene fell out of them!! Second pair literally fell to bits in the field.

It depends on the terrain I guess. But I can't flaw Hunter to be honest. Have been wearing them since I was a kid and can't see myself changing. I have the normal classic ones for the warmer weather, and then the Neo lined ones for the winter. I've put in many full days of walking/shooting etc and I don't find them too sweaty. Perhaps leave off those two inch thick wool socks that granny knitted for you on the longer days! :)

Aigle Parcours ISO wellies. Great neoprene lined wellies. Very comfy and walk all day in 'em. Bought mine from Sportsden last year and very pleased with them. I found them especially good when walking on uneven frozen ground (which we're likely to have again very soon !)

Each boot weighs 2 3/4 lbs, i dont usually
wear wellies i prefer a nice pair of waterproof
walking boots but i've lost count of the number
of times i've ended up in mud or water way above
ankle level so bought a pair of these as a mate had
a pair they are very comfortable and warm i think
the key to wearing wellies is having decent socks to go
with them. These are the one's i got but as said cost me
130/32 euro delivered, bought on a Sunday night arrived
    the following Thursday>>>
