Great deal on this gps, 129£ in a black friday deal on amazon. half the price that they are retailing for on american golf. Offer ends soon though.

Click on black friday deal on RHS, then filter down to sports and leisure and it should be there.

"Tired of trees blocking your view? We’ve included Tree Line Coverage for most courses to help you see where trees line your fairways, further allowing you to adjust your shot" LINK

Just means they show you where the trees are on the hole. I guess you can touch the trees on the hole picture and see how far away they are or how far you need to hit it to carry the trees etc.

I contact Garmin about the lack of course available in Ireland and they don't seem to have any plans to increase this, mainly concentrating on the big US and UK markets etc

I think it would be a waste to buy this product unless you're home course is covered on it.

It is :D as well as most of the other courses I play. I agree though if you home course isn't on the list already I wouldn't buy it.

It was £129 but it was only for an hour starting at eight this evening. I guess it must be back to £199 by now. Keep an eye out and it might go on sale again.

I'd love to get a GPS but I'm still not able to hit my wedge exactly 107 yards or my 5 iron exactly 176 metres. I guess I'll have to stick with the distance markers on the course for now and be a few yards/metres off ;)

Agree with you but (there is always a but) you would have the total confidence that you are 176meters out and that is within your 5iron range unlike a guess which may be 10meters or more out meaning your 5iron is no longer in range.
Of course as you split the fairway with every shot and then the course markers will be fine;)
Seriously though I will also use one to get a better idea of actually how far do I hit my various clubs.

My main reason for getting one is I'm going to get a Xmas pressie anyhow, so may as well make it something useful, will be nice to use on course I'm not familiar with or for seeing exactly how far I hit with my various clubs.

In fairness, they are dead handy when you are off the beaten track in places unknown, and also when you need to know lay up distances. If I played a lot of "foreign" courses, I'd get one, but I stick to the home course, as I am determined to get my value for my subs and can't justify playing and paying green fees elsewhere!

Getting an accurate distance to the pin and the above are the main two reason I got it. Being able to get an accurate distance for each of my clubs should make a big difference to my game. No second guessing club selection.

I think though that even on your home course they (or lasers) would be a big advantage in getting to know your clubs and the yardages you hit.

Golf a lot of the time is a confidence thing and yardages of my clubs is something that I still struggle with leaving irons short or on front edge of greens,

I want to improve this and gaining confidence from a device knowing that hitting a 7iron for example wont put me over the back of the green will allow me to go for the green/pin.
Thats the reason I will get one, not so much for playing different courses though of course they will help there as well.

For the price it was offered and as my home course was on there it seemed like a great deal

If you keep an eye out you may get lucky with one being put on ebay/adverts after Christmas as an unwanted gift.

I know my yardages very well, well my "metreage", as I go by metres as the course is measured and marked in metres. I'm rarely short, I've been playing the course for over 15 years. GPS would benefit me when I'm a little wayward, but I can't justify spending on one just yet, I'd rather a new bag, rain gear or use the cash on a new set of irons!
