    Who are these guys?
How did they get my address?
Why are they sending me letters all the way from France?
Why do they think I'll send them money?

Very dodgy, have you noticed any men in dresses following you lately?

Ah, I remember the days when it was only Damart and the Reader's Digest who used to stalk you by post.

I'm going out on a limb here, and guessing that you've never sent these guys money, or corresponded with them on any subject. Hence the mystery about how they got your name and address.

    Two possibilities:

    1. Some friend of yours with misplaced sense of humour (or some enemy with well-placed sense of malice) thought it would be hugely funny to add you to their mailing list.

    2. Although their motivation is obviously religious, much of their practical work is in the areas of human developent, health and education in developing countries. Have you ever contributed to any other organisation working in this field? These organisations (or the consultancies they employ to assist in fundraising) exchange mailing lists from time to time. It's possible that the Salvatorians reckong that people who don't share their religions motivation may still be prepared to support their practical work.

That could explain it. World Vision / Concern are in my bad books now. I specifically said do NOT forward my details to third parties.

Well, we don't know that either of them did, because there is a third possiblity. When I got a professional qualification, and therefore had my name and details entered on a publicly-accessible register, I suddenly started getting all kinds of direct marketing efforts from people trying to sell me everything from hand-made shoes to a new Mercedes Benz. (I stuck with my 15-year old Citroen Dyane, though.) I even got my first Nigerian e-mail shortly afterwards. That was a proud day!

It's possible the Salvatorians have lifted you from some such source. I wouldn't want to discourage you from supporting other development agencies.

Just send them a note back from the Galvatorian missions that by order of Unicron they must stop bugging people.

Or reply but keep calling them the Salvia Mission and asking to buy drugs.

Phone them and ask where they got your details and request to be removed from their mailing list. I had to do this recently much closer to home. Funnily enough they told me that I had fiiled in one of their forms and dropped it in????

Meh, I'd rather let them waste their money sending me mail that wont be responded to than waste my own money ringing France to tell them to stop.
It's a shame they sent out christmas cards with really nice paintings of baby Jesus et al (asking for money in return of course). I might even have found use for them and sent back a token amount were it not for the messages inscribed on the inside asking for more donations.
