    Hi,

I've applied for my driving test and got a date recently for just before Christmas. I've heard people talking about the different faults but I can't seem to find any detailed info on what exactly these faults are.

It says on the RSA's website that a grade 1 is a minor fault but can anyone explain what a minor fault is... Similarly, with grade 2 and 3's. I've a pretest booked for Sunday and will ask my instructor to explain but I would like to have an idea of what they are beforehand.

    Thanks

    See the test sheet here.

    http://drivingtesttips.ie/Irish-Driving-Test-Report-Form.php

This is what the tester will have and will be ticking as you make certain mistakes during the test.

The grade is just the severity of the mistake (I think).

Thanks. Is it kind of a juedgement call on the part of the tester so in terms of how severe they think the error is? Sorry for all my questions!

See here for the RSA Marking guidelines: http://www.rsa.ie/Documents/ADI/DrivingFault_Marking_Guides.pdf

As a very very rough rules of thumb, Grade 1s are for minor faults, Grade 2s are for serious faults, Grade 3s are for dangerous or potentially dangerous faults, or for total disregard of traffic controls!

Well yes and no. I mean they might spot something in observation that you missed.

But you can see all the various topics on that page.
