Carlow IT - need info on a course

Hi all , I'm new to boards.ie and just looking for requirements on a course in Carlow IT which is Computer Games Development. I'm 22 and I'll be 23 in April and what to apply as a mature student for September 2012. I've been working the last 4 years since I left school but I've just got to the point where I want to be able to do a course where I'll hopefully get a job out of and enjoy it. I also want my taste of college life which everyone should nearly get the opportunity to do. I'm meeting up with a career guidance counsellor on 6th December to get to know a few stuff on the course but just wanted to see could anyone help me out on this first. Is their grants and all available for a starter? been living with my brother the past year and from what I'm hearing it could be available , would really boost me. I passed my leaving cert and all , do they need a copy of results though in Carlow IT or is it a requirement as a mature student.
Any help would be very much appreciated :) Thanks.

I was in the same boat as you are now and there is a thread that has all the information you'll ever need to immerse yourself in all things games development.

    You can find it here

You'll have to apply through the CAO to get offered a place and you'll have to attend an interview in the college. Its one of the most sought after courses in Ireland so make sure your we'll prepared. Games Dev is no joke, its intensive programming, physics and general computer science but if your willing to put in the work it wont be a problem. I didn't do well in my leaving but came back as a mature student and gave it a shot, I'm in 3rd year so its doable.

You can find information on funding here but it changes from year to year

    Good luck!
