Which iPad?

I want to get an iPad 2, but im not sure which one is best for me.

im thinking there is no point in getting a 3g ipad as i have an ip4 and i can use personal hotspot if im in a wifi free zone e.g no point in paying for data when i have all you can eat data on my phone.

but then im stuck, do i get the 16gb or the 32gb?

i can see me downloading a few pdf's (e.g college books) i will mainly use it for college/entertainment, so apps, games, no music or anything like that..i have my music on my phone. Maybe the odd movie or tv show.

my two year old will probably use it for her own apps i mostly use youtube for her cartoons!

the thing is i don't want to pay for a 32gb and only use like 10gb. my 16gb iphone has about 14gb used but 11gb would be my music alone. so im finding hard to judge how much space i need, i don't want to be there 2 years later with a full iPad either.

what would you think is the best one for me?

Seriously you have an iphone and a computer, you don't need an ipad and your 2 year old doesn't need apps, she needs friends and real world activities.

I think I had a cardboard box and a mickey mouse doll when I was 2, my life felt complete.

If a man wants an iPad, then an iPad he should get.

    One life.

Edit: Or woman, I'm not sure which you are. But if you want an iPad, go for it.

erm thanks, but its the bigger screen i want, plus like i said my phone is full, and pdf's are a pain on it anyway, while its also lighter and easier to carry around then my laptop!

as for my two year old, she has friends, and to be fair were iPads around when you were two?

she loves her apps on my phone and she loves my aunts iPad and i think its important for her to indulge for small amounts of time in technology such as iPads/laptops rather then sit in front of a box with pictures you dont interact with.

I have the ipad2 16gb and it suits my needs perfectly. I do watch video, but usually delete after watching, as it's not really a storage device per se, but a media consumption device.
16 will probably be fine if you watch what goes onto it. Great device, and a pleasure to use too.

As Tallus has suggested, 16 gb Ipad 2. Perfect for your needs. And if you are not a compulsive "it has to be new in the box" type, you can save a fair few quid over at adverts.ie. Plenty of 2nd hand, perfect units knockin around.

I have a 16gb and it's fine. I have loads of keynote presentations on it, and it's not even half full.

If storage becomes an issue for you, you could always just keep stuff in an iTunes library and transfer to/from the ipad as needed.

You're right about the personal hotspot meaning that you may not need a 3G iPad, but just make sure your network provider allows tethering as part of your contract. Otherwise you could get screwed big time with charges for sending your data an extra few inches from your iPhone to your iPad.

im with three, i have used personal hotspot before wit no charge and tethering too so id say im fine with that side of things. so would a 3g ipad be completely ruled out then?

    i've a 32gb ipad but wish i went for the 16gb.

all my music is streamed from my iMac, if i'm on the go, my music is on my iphone.

if i'm travelling i'll stick some music and video on it but 16gb is plenty for me.

My (now) 3 year old has played with my iPhone since she could hold things. She has (thanks to me!) a whole suite of educational apps that she loves that involve letters, words, colours, animals, music etc.

And kids love nothing more than to play with the things adults use.

Well some of us might have had a "Speak & Spell" in the 70s/80s... and this is just an update on that. :)

OP - 16GB would be plenty if it's just for apps!

Go for the 16GB and get the Box.net app as they're currently offering 50GB accounts for free to iPhone/iPad users. All the storage you could need across all your devices, handy. The app is a bit limited in functionality, but you can't argue with that amount of free storage.

As a betting man, i'd say thats its a heavy odds-on shot that you will not have the will power to leave it just sitting there for 30days ;)
