My son has the usual consoles etc, they do computers in school and he does a bit at home. I got a touchpad for him for christmas but now i'm wondering is it too advanced for him or would it be ok? Maybe something like this instead : http://www.easypix.eu/easypad1000_en.html What do you think?

I haven't used the HP so can't comment on that, but I did get an Android tablet recently and the following points may apply:
That easypad1000 runs Android 2.1 which is quite old
IF you want to use it with a 3G modem, check which ones are supported
    Does it come with Flash?
    Is the battery life OK?
Does it have a genuine AppMarket? I still cant get my tab to get a free app from the Android Market
