    Hi all,

I hope you might be able to help or give your two cents on this. I'm under instructions to get a "golf bag you can carry on your back" for a Christmas present this year.

Now this is all the information I have to go on! However I was on the McGuirks site, as a starting point, and spotted this one: http://www.mcguirksgolf.com/taylormade-purelite-stand-bag/taya0501pd.html
It's on sale putting it just within my budget and I like the style/design of it but I know nothing about golf so I suppose I'm wondering if it's actually any use or not. Also, the straps on it are like back pack straps and I assume this is what he meant by being able to carry it on his back?

Any help or direction on this would be really appreciated!

    Thanks

    Cat

PS. What is the difference between the golf bags and the cart bags on the McGuirks site?? Should I consider that instead?

Yup that would be just what he is looking for. However you might want to check what kind of clubs he has. If he has alot of Taylor made clubs then its perfect...if he has none then maybe it is not the one he wants. These are known as "stand bags" i.e. they stand up when you put them on the ground. You can buy them in makes that don't make clubs so they are suitable for everyone eg. Ogio.

Ooh good advice, thank you. I didn't realise that about the clubs. I'll have to do some investigation!

    Thank you very much!

you might also want to get an embroidery on the bag
some losers, with delusions, get this to mimmick the pros
personally i think it is completely naff
    different strokes tho

Ooh dunno...that does sound a bit cheesy. Dunno if he'd be into that or what I'd embroider (other than his name) if he was. Thanks for giving me something to think about though!

They are suitable for everyone, I don't get this having to same bag branding as your clubs thing. I'd rather have the best or one that meets my requirements, rather than the correct name on the side.

Good timing as I just found out what brand they are - Hippo apparently - and was going to double check about brand of bag + brand of clubs. So there is no real reason then for them to match other than being the same brand? Thanks for all the advice - I'm a real novice with this stuff!

I was merely making the point that if the recipient of this present is the world'd greatest Ping fan with 14 Pings in his bag that giving him a Taylor Made bag may not be the most suitable. Personally I don't care either but some do..

I actually know what you mean but since finding out they're Hippo ones my thinking is it doesn't matter about the bag brand...however that's based on me, as a novice, having never heard of Hippo!

I have a Ping cart bag and dont own a single Ping club. The bag just so happened to tick all the boxes i was looking for (ie 14 way divider, external putter holder, external umbrella holder etc...) Plus i dont like having all matching clubs, bag etc... Prefer to mix it up. Dont want to look like im sponsored by Mizuno or whoever !

I wouldnt get too hung up on that. Maybe others do prefer to have them matching though. Anyway, that taylormade bag looks good. Reputable brand etc... In fact all the stand bags on McGuirks look like they'd do the job nicely (mabybe bar the Wilson mini feather one). I dont think you'll go too far wrong getting any of those bags though.

    lol... I'd be 99% sure brand doesnt matter because if it did;
a- he would have specified it.
b- most brand conscious golfer dont use hippo.

And id like to add that there absolutely nothing wrong with hippo, just some golfers cant see past the top 3 or 4 big brands!

    Try here:http://www.golfstoreeurope.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=2249

The bag your looking for is cheaper and postage is free, this might free up a few euro's for something else?
Many on this site have used Golf-store Europe's site as have I and they are 100%.
Nice present your buying too :)

    Hi,

I just received that pure lite 2.0 bag on friday and used it at the weekend and found it brilliant.I had a titleist sx6 before that and prefer this one so far.Loads of storage and is light to carry.Highly recommend it!

I have a Sun Mountain Bag and it has been great. A light, double-strap bag is good for carrying. The Taylormade bag will be perfect.....find out if he likes dark colours or light, bright ones. Ogio and Sun Mountain do good bags.

The one I have is similar to this one...

Good deal, but phone them to make sure it's in stock - irregardless of what they say on their site.

My girlfriend bought a few presents that they had listed as in stock last Christmas and found out weeks later they did not have them.

I've also experienced this in the past with them and they didn't contact me to say they didn't. If they do have the item in stock, they are a good website to deal with, but make sure they do first.
