Contemporary Boutique In Ireland

    Hi all,

I'm looking for a hotel within about 2-3 hours from Dublin - the person I'm going with is very much into contemporary boutique hotels, for example something like this http://milano.boscolohotels.com/restaurant-and-bar/

I appreciate that finding something like the hotel boscolo in Milan in Ireland isn't really going to be possible.

I've looked at Ashford Castle, Dromoland Castle etc... but I don't really think they'll fit the bill as they are more classic hotels.

I suppose the G hotel in Galway is a possibility but I'll like something a bit off the beaten track.

I'd welcome any suggestions you have....

    Maybe Carton House? Or Tulfarris?
The Gibson Hotel in Dublin city is also very contemporary...

The House Hotel in Galway is a very nice, I'd recommend it before the G.

The House Hotel doesn't look that contemporary to me, plus the suites don't look all that inviting!

I agree that the Gibson and a few other hotels in Dublin would tick a good few of the boxes but I'd like to get away from Dublin if at all possible.

I hadn't thought of Carlton House.

The River Lee Hotel in Cork (on the site of the old Jurys) another one just popped in my head - maybe just over 3 hours away though...

The Ice House in Ballina - never stayed there, but had dinner one night last summer, the location is fab.

The best boutique hotel I stayed in recently was No 1 Pery Square in Limerick. Lovely interior and room.

I stayed at Bellinter and found it to be a mixed bag.

If you want something a bit more "classic", try Tankardstown House near Slane. It's absolutely lovely.
