Hi lads, recently traded a m4 with a lad for a JG Aug.. lovely gun and have, or had, big plans for it.
stripped it to find an upgraded spring, and a few other bits.... But..
its also got a cracked piece at the front of the gearbox..
Anybody tell me where to get a replacement..? i believe its a v2, but can i use a v3? ive read theyre stronger and that the v2 cracks exactly like mine... or is there a upgraded type of gearbox that i can buy thats not a standard one....?

    Thanks lads..!

So have you got an M4 or an AUG at the moment?

M4's use a v2 type gearbox and AUG's use a v3 type gearbox. The two types are not compatible across guns that aren't meant to have them, i.e an M4 uses a v2 and cannot use a v3 due to size difference and various other reasons.

When buying a replacement you also need to take note of the size of your bushings (they can be between 6mm-9mm) if you plan on using all of the same parts, bar the gearbox shell.

Is it the gearbox shell you've cracked (outer casing), or is it a piece toward the front of the gearbox i.e. cylinder, cylinder head, air nozzle etc?

You can only use V2 parts in a V2 gearbox. The way to look at it is all the parts were designed to fit into the specified gearbox shape, and the other parts would require modification to get them to fit, if at all.

some bits are and some are not, piston/piston head , cylinder , gears, springs and bearings/bushings are all going to be cross compatible, yes some work might be needed to fit at times but no more than fitting them in different brands of the same gearbox

where as nozzles, wiring, tappet plate, spring guides and selector plates are dependant on both gearbox version and the aeg type

jesus lads no body read the thread properly did yas...?? ha ha ha
(joking people)! i had the m4 swapped it for an aug
i know parts(to a degree) arent interchangerble, maybe my wording was wrong...

....what gearbox is in jg aug?
.....yes its the part of the gearbox thats broken...(not cylinder..etc)
.....so where to get either original new casing? or upgraded version

    Thanks again lads..!

Ah right, it's a v3 gearbox in an AUG.

Not sure if you can get them in any of the Irish retailers, might be worth asking them in their threads.

You can get an Ultimate one here for £55, just scroll down.

You can probably get cheaper ones if you shop around, just thought I'd give you an example.

If that is the same AUG as I sold to Airsofter01 then it needed no upgrades. Sleepershark had tuned that one up to an Awesome AEG. JG AUG A2with new 7mm bearings and properly shimmed, High torque/high speed motor.
M90 spring Shoots 322 +/- 3 fps with 0.2 g bb with hop off. Also New air nozzle fitted. 6.03mm tight bore inner barell installed. Mosfet and brand new 9.6v battery. When I sold it that AUG was shooting at the best as could be achieved for range and accuracy (without paying crazy money for upgrade parts) and for staying under the 1 joule limit!!
Rof was well above average with 9.6v batt, mosfet and High speed motor. Were you not happy with the AEGs performance? Did you fire or skirmish it before you took it apart? What exactly is it you wanted to change?
