I live near the border (Donegal) and was receiving freeview with a perfect picture up until my decoder broke,I hooked up a new one and now can only get 4 or 5 channels. My son rescanned his tv recently and the same thing has happened.I was wondering if they have turned down the signal, any ideas?

What receivers were you both using before and after?

Which freeview transmitter are you receiving from?

My son was just using his built in freeview on his sony tv.The receivers I was using was just a cheap set top box the new one is a goodmans. As far as I know the signal is from Limavady. My daughter has not lost her channels on her freeview tv but she has not rescanned.

I've found that Limavady reception has not been as good for the last year or so. There are sometimes interruptions with ongoing work at the site itself. On top of this, the saorview channels and tests from Letterkenny are a new source of interference.

However, if you were getting more channels until very recently, it may be that the new box has a less sensitive tuner. There may be problems with the aerial or with water ingress to the cables, any outdoor amplifiers or other equipment.

With less than a year to ASO, which should solve a lot of problems for East Donegal, it is hard to justify spending money on the aerial set-up at this stage, but I would give everything a thorough check and try tuning in the channels manually, and at different times of the day.

Is it true that Dave is on freeview? Wish it was free on satellite. Any other channels on freeview that cannot be had on freesat?

They include 5USA, 5*, PICK TV, Yesterday and Quest. Some of these may also go to Freesat at some stage.

Generally for Sport and/or Movies. Apart from these Sky doesn't have a lot except you are especially interested in a particular genre e.g. food/entertainment/history channels.
