Dave channel just showed Three Men Go to Scotland which was basically Three Men in a Boat plus Ed Byrne. So that's Rory Bremner, Griff Ryhs Jones, Daire O Briain and Ed Byrne in a boat.

The first three have obviously gelled during the earlier series and complement each other but Ed Byrne was like a teenager with tourettes thrown into the mix, trying to impress the other three as if he was auditioningfor something. I think he was there because he has done a lot of hillwalking in Scotland.

I've never seen him in concert, live or otherwise so he must have got his agent to deliberately pitch him as a panelist, guest contributor etc because he's become almost ubiquitous and nothing else explains the level of exposure he has in the UK.

If he'd been around a few years earlier he'd have been perfect on Blankety Blank :-) Don't mean to offend Ed or his fans but I just don't get it.

I've never met anyone who has found him the slightest bit entertaining or funny. I don't think anyone gets it. He's like the talking version of the total stranger who tries to appear in the background of celebrity photos.

Whenever he appears, I switch channels.
