Gaming Laptop

I'm looking for a gaming laptop, my budget is 800 euro but if needed I can up that to 900.

Could anyone point me to which websites to look at and also make any suggestions.

I'd like to be able to play battlefield 3 and skyrim on it.

If you want something cheaper then maybe try the XPS range from dell, but you'll have to compromise on settings.

Woah! is it just me or is that really cheap for that kind of spec?

I recently bought a Toshiba L755 or L775.. cant remember exactly but I'll check when i get home. Its Windows 7 Ultimate 64 hbit, an i5 2.4, 8 gb ram, 640gb HD, nvidia 1 gb grpahics card with 17.3 hd display, 3d blu ray player (needs to be connected to 3d tv though) and it cost €899 in Harvey Norman. Fantastic machine for a fantastic price as a dell or sony with that spec was gonna set me back upwards of €1250 in the same shop! I would highly reccomend checking it out! I play games on it while download etc in the background and theres not a bother on it!

The size of vRAM is not nearly as important as the model of card. For example, many of you have probably seen the GT 520m 1gb card, this is in fact an awful card and is much worse than 80% of older 512mb models including the 9600m GT ddr3, 9800m GT, gt 230m etc.

2gb vs 1gb, this is RIDICULOUS. NO games will use 2gb or even 1gb for that matter, you will waste your money if you buy a 2gb card.

Is MUCH better than all the others!! Except for the 1000+ models with GTX 570m. The 5870 even beats the gtx 460m.

For best gaming performance, there is no question, this is hands down the right choice.

Better than all of the Nvidia gt 540m models. Not far behind the gt 555m at all.

Don't pay any attention to the CPU. Dual core CPUs today have 4 threads. And for gaming, you don't need much at all, graphics are much more important.


Also, its worth mentioning the gx740 is very upgradeable like a desktop. You can use an AMD 6990m card in it. Here in the US the card is about 350$ USD, and going down in price, I think someday it would be a worthwhile upgrade including the import duties.
